Photo session - which time would you choose?

So I'm talking with a photographer to have a maternity/anniversary/family session at the end of August and she's offering either Saturday or Sunday, early morning or evenings. She said morning would be around 8:30 and evening would be around 6:30. But I'm not sure what the best choice would be. Emma is pretty agreeable in the mornings around that time, after breakfast and all but I was sort of hoping to get my hair done before hand and I don't think I could go that early. The 6:30 session she may not be in as good of a mood for depending on the day and it would necessitate dinner being earlier which then might throw off the rest of the evening. Sunday evening might be nice since we'd already be clean and in nicer clothes from church but those days are pretty unpredictable because she always misses her morning nap due to church. Sunday morning would be out because of church, though we're not there that early so maybe it could work...

So, what would you choose? Morning because LO is in a better mood? Evening to give more time to get ready? Saturday over Sunday?

Re: Photo session - which time would you choose?

  • I've always chosen early morning times to do our professional pictures because Jamey is almost guaranteed to be in a good mood.  I feel like the LO's mood will make or break your session and if you want to get your money's worth out of it, its in your best interest to do it when the LO is most agreeable.  Thats my 2 cents FWIW.  Now Sunday or Saturday is totally your call.  I would do Saturday if I were you.  We go to church on Sunday mornings also and that just sounds like too much chaos trying to get ready, do a photo shoot and get to church on time.  I guess it depends what time your church is but I wouldn't do that to myself on a Sunday morning!

  • Although I'm not a huge fan of mornings and know it is difficult to be ready in time I would do morning since that's when your daughter will be in the better mood.  I would also let DH know in advance you need him to take morning duty with DD so you have time to get yourself ready.

  • I agree with picking the morning time. I know LO is the happiest in the morning and would also be a crap shoot if she was happy at 630 at night or not.
