DHA?

Hello everyone.  Along with my first visit I recieved a sample of a DHA supplement.  Does any one else take these??  What are the feelings on these?  TIA

Re: DHA?

  • I take them and think it's a good idea since we can't get this from fish.  I got a seperate supplement, but next time will buy a prenatal that already has it in there.

  • A lot of the prescription vitamins now come with two pills one being DHA.. My doc recommends taking both!
  • It is very important to take DHA during pregnancy. Google it and look up all of the benefits to taking it.
  • I take the cvs version of the prenatal vitamin.  The box contains both the vitamin and the supplement.  I take them at night, they are pretty inexpensive, and I have not had any constipation with them (may vitamins are high in iron and cause this)  good luck
  • I take the Prenate with DHA and stool softener :) It is on the expensive side but at least I can keep it down (bad gag reflex) and I don't have to take two pills.
  • Its a very beneficial supplement, but it tastes and smells like A**!  Plus if you havent eaten before taking them they make you burp fish...  I just eat a big meal before I take it.

  • My prescription (Tandem DHA) comes with DHA in it. Only one pill to take - which I love.

    gross thanks for the advise.

  • You should take a DHA supplement or your baby will be born with 3 legs and half a brain.

hey that sounds like fun-although purchasing shoes could be a bit difficult......I would be waisting a shoe every time because I would have to buy 2 packs...damn

  • My prenatal has a DHA supplement that's made from microalgae (where fish get their DHA). Same helpfulness without the fishy burps.
  • My PNV have DHA in them. I think its great since I dont eat the right foods to get the amount of DHA i need. However, you can get DHA from others foods so if you dont want to take a DHA supplement talk with your Dr about what foods and how much of those foods you should eat daily.

  • I take the Expecta DHA supplement.  I've found it doesn't taste fishy like others I've tried.  I was also concerned about mercury/contaminant levels in some of the fish oil supplements.

  • I take Expecta - it's not from fish oil, so no odd taste. Also, some DHA from fish (usually the ones form the healthfood stores) have higher levels of mercury than you want. Stick with one that's specifically for pregnant women.
