Parenting after a Loss

12:30am, every.single.night

It doesn't matter if I put her to bed at 8, 9, or 10, she wakes up at 12:30am every.single.night. screaming. Before she started teething for her top teeth, I would be able to shush her back to sleep, or even better, she would be able to do it herself.

Since the teething, she would need me to soothe her, which can take anywhere from 30 seconds to an hour. I was hoping that once the teeth broke through, that would stop, but it has been going on for over a month. What gives?!

Last night, it took 50 minutes, with two pick ups (something that I rarely have to do). Letting her CIO gets her so wound up that it can take 2 hours to get her back down. I also don't know what the difference is between a night that only takes a couple of pats to resettle her vs. 1+ hr to resettle her.

Please tell me this is just a super long phase and that it will pass. Not sure what else to do to break this habit.

Babies have such weird internal clocks. DS used to wake up at 4:00am every day like that. It was the weirdest thing..

I can't remember but I think he just quit it on it's own.

    Have you tried Motrin?

Can you beat her to the punch?  If she wakes up then, maybe dream feed her a bit earlier and see if that helps to keep her down.  I would have tried that with the 5am demon, but I wasn't already up then.  FWIW, I've had better luck keeping him down until 5-6 by feeding him right before I got to bed, regardless of the time he was last fed.

Over a month?  We had this about one month.  We did pain reliever before bed if she had cried the night before and was fussy all day too.  When she got a whole bunch of skills at one time we had the 1-hour back-to-bed, but mostly the quick hug would do, 5 min top.  If she was inconsolible for over 20 min with all our teetching gear we'd do pain reliever on the spot.
