I started my injections last night for IVF #1. When my drugs/ supplies was ordered there was a mistake and I wasnt giving any needles to give the injection with. Of course I notice this at 9p last night when my DH and I got all the goodies together to give me my shot. So instead of using a 27g 1/2in I had to use a 22g 1 1/2in!! I totally flenched when my DH started to poke me so then he had to poke me twice. The needle was so big it took 10 min for my skin to stop bleeding. Needless to say I wasnt a happy camper. Oh well, its over and new MUCH smaller needles are waiting at the pharmacy for me. Just thought I would share how my night went. Good luck to all my ladies out there!!

I called this morning and my nurse was kinda upset that I didnt call the after hours nurse to call some in to the pharmacy. But at 9p the last thing I wanted to do was drive 20+ miles to the pharmacy. I made it through it but I have a whole new sympathy for all of the animals I have poked over the years lol.

Believe me the thought crossed my mind to just wait until I got a smaller needle the next day. Instead I just sucked it up and did it. My stomach was pretty tender this morning though. Its amazing the things we will put ourselves through!!

Oh nooo..... when I was doing my injections, my nurse forgot to tell us to switch the needles for one of them, and we attempted to use the bigger needle which didn't go over too well... it wouldn't even pierce my skin! When we finally got so frustrated we were about to give up, I went and double checked the instructions and there was a smaller needle in the box! My fiance and I both felt pretty foolish!
Skylar Elena and Hollyn Isabella... our two beautiful blessings arrived April 18, 2013!
Yeah, the 22 gauge are for PIO (I'm assuming). They aren't fun, but yesterday MH left me hanging so I had to do PIO myself. Yep, I stabbed myself with that size needle. Scary as hell to do to yourself!
As I was ordering my IVF meds today, I was looking at that 1 1/2" needle listing... of which I'm ordering 35. I kind of wish I hadn't found out how long they were!
Good luck on this cycle! I hope it's the one for you
