I know babies are not supposed to eat strawberries until after a year...but what about strawberry flavored treats? Nutragrain bars, yogurt, jam, and the yogurt melts have strawberry flavors, are those ok to give LO?
Not giving them strawberries is outdated advice, unless someone in your family has an allergy. You can give them strawberries any time, just keep an eye out for any reactions.
As for the other stuff, I wouldn't give the nutragrains or jam because of the high sugar content. But obviously since strawberries aren't actually a problem the strawberry flavoured stuff is fine, too.
Strawberries are fine. They don't recommend delaying anything anymore, it's outdated. Even my DS who had several food allergies tolerates ( and likes) strawberries.
I believe that strawberries are fine after 8 months, C LOVES them right off our bush. Also, the strawberry flavored items are okay since they are cooked, if I'm remembering what I read on wholesomebabyfood.com correctly.
As LCass pointed out, I'd be much more concerned about the sugar and sodium in those products than the strawberry flavoring. Fresh strawberries are far healthier for your child.
