Baby Names

3 girls names, still confused!

I have posted before and we now mixed around some names and are down to a final 3. My daughter is Reese and our new baby girl is due Dec. Here are the names - middle name will be Noelle:

Mackenzie (we both like it - husband's #1 choice)

Paisley (we both like it - my #1 choice)

 Taylor (we both like it....)

I am not a huge fan of "popular" names, so that's why I'm hesitant with Mackenzie and Taylor. Have you run into a lot of them?

Thanks for your input!

Makenzie is pretty popular. I don't like Paisley at all, NMS.  I think Taylor Noelle is great... and I don't think it's too popular.

  • Preface: we have very different tastes.

Paisley is a pattern, and I think an awful name for a person.

Mackenzie is uber popular and just NMS.

Taylor is masculine, but would be my pick of these three.

  • If you want a name that is not popular in Boston, Paisley is the most uncommon here. In fact, it is so unusual that it doesn't even appear in the Massachusetts 2011 extended list, meaning that fewer than five Paisleys were born in the whole state in 2011. Paisely is a top-50 name in some states (#28 in OK, #36 in UT, #42 in Idaho), but it is not used at all in any of the New England states. Seriously, it has fewer than 5 uses in CT, VT, NH, RI, ME, and MA.

So, if you want unpopular, it certainly is. Just make sure that this is the kind of unpopular you want. When I see a name that is top-100 in a third of the country and not used at all in an entire region, it makes me think that people in New England are rejecting the name, rather than being unaware of it.

Agree. Taylor sounds the best with her sister Reese.

  • I hate Mackenzie and Paisley.  I'm not a fan of Taylor either, but it seems to go with your other child's name.

  • I love Paisley. My neighbor spells it paisleigh. Not a fan of that, but I love the name. Go for it.
  • I like Taylor.. I'm sorry but I think Mckenzie is a really unattractive name and don't get the popularity. I also really dislike Paisley- sounds too preppy to me but thats just my op!
  • I'd nix Mackenzie as it is wicked popular.
Paisley is a vegetable drop pattern...though I like the idea of this being a name.  Ainsley is a name that is similar.

I think I'd go with Taylor.

  • I don't understand the appeal of Paisley, and I know 3 of them! Mackenzie is super popular as well. I think Taylor Noelle flows best. I'm also partial to Taylor though because it's my name. :)
