So we use CD, but are going out of town in 2 weeks and don't want to take diapers or do laundry. Just wondered what type of disposables are working well for you. The last time we used disposables was when he was about 10 months old I think, we used pampers at the time and had a few leaks on that trip.....
A is nearly 30 pounds and is leaning out. He's a heavy wetter and typically holds his pee for 4 hours before letting it all go :-) hopefully that means he'll be ready for potty training come 2 years old.
Also do you use the same diapers for during the day as well as overnight? Thanks!
Re: Diaper suggestion....
I use Luvs, Up and Up and Parent's Choice. DD pees so much at night we had to get the Parent's Choice night time diaper.
What kind of CDs do you use? I have been using sposies because DD holds her pee for a while also and we've been having issues with leaking (the inserts are soaked so I know it not repelling issues). I use mostly BG 4.0 and Alva with Alva 4 layer and a 3 layer folded in half in the wet area.
We use the Parent's Choice (Walmart brand). My little 24 pounder uses the size 5's though...they are baggie on him, but the 4s were getting too small and his tushie was hanging out of them. For nighttime, we used to use Huggies overnights, but Walmart just started selling overnight Parent's Choice and we bought those. They seem to work better than the Huggies to me.
Edit: My kid soaks diapers too. We change about every three hours at home.
We've been using Target Up & Up diapers since DS was a few months old. We use Pampers Extra Protection diapers in one size up for overnight. Both have really worked well for us.
Maybe you could try using overnight 'sposies for A during the day, since he's a heavy wetter.
At home we use prefolds and covers, but when we are out and about we switch to either our BG 4.0 or Blueberry pockets. We switched from microfiber to hemp and bamboo inserts a while back and haven't had leaking issues. At night we do the Bg 4.0 stuffed with hemp only, but I cheat and use wool longies to catch any pee if he does happen to leak from a particularly heavy night.
our hemp inserts are the joeybunz (which I like since there is a little bit of contour to help have better coverage) hemp babies which are kinda skinny and smaller, worked great when A was smaller and we use as a little booster if needed and AFFF which we use in the overnight diapers.
Our bamboo inserts came with the blueberry diapers but we intermix the inserts among all the shells. but I typically just use the bamboo in the daytime pockets as opposed to overnight, the hemp holds more for us.
Whenever we need disposables, we use Target Up & Up. They are inexpensive and they work GREAT. Even 11 hours overnight and no leaks.
C is 30lbs and is juuuuust getting out of size 4's. His little butt cheeks are starting to stick out the sides.

I'm about ready to throw in the towel with CDs too. We use BG 4.0's too. Lately I've been doubling them up with the newborn inserts and she's still soaking through them. I'm getting real tired of having to change her outfit every time I change her diaper.
OP, we use Seventh Generation when we use disposables and haven't had any leaking.
I'm glad I'm not the only one having issues at this point. I added more absorbency but she just has the hardest time because the diaper is so full of fluff.
We use huggies with mickey mouse (the pooh has a drymax like chemical in it). Because of P's sensitive skin, we can't use the Target brand. Whatever the chemical is in those diapers gives her a chemical burn similar to drymax.
To be fair, we also can't use desitin for the same problem.
