Our pedi said no solids until 6 months. Yesterday X grabbed a chip out of my hand, he then grabbed an empty BM bottle and tried to shove it in his mouth, and he watches us eat all the time. He'll watch our plates and then watches our forks go from the plate to our mouth. The poor kid looks like he wants food. DH and I talked about just giving him solids when he looked ready but this seems a little early. He's 4months 6 days.
Josie is the same way--she's always watching us eat. Sunday she stuck her head in my cereal bowl and stuck out her tongue like she was trying to eat it . I imagine we'll start with some rice cereal soon. Her 4 month appt is tomorrow, so I'll see what her Pedi says.
We started DS on rice cereal a few weeks ago, and got the ok from the pedi to start other solids next month...we are going to go really slow though at first depending on how much interest he shows.

A friend of mine, whose son is a week older than Zoe, and has the same ped, was told if her boy was interested in foods she could start giving him mashed carrots, sweet potatoes or a few other thing I can't remember and she tried giving him some mashed carrots, since he was staring at their food again and even though our ped told her he'd probably just spit it out, the kid went to town on them.
We're BF and the pedi said I could start cereal at 4 months and solids around 6, but it was up to me. I haven't decided when I would, but both my boys were on solids by 6 months.
I clicked SS. I want to do BLW and don't know when she'll start grabbing for my food, which is when I will start solids with her. Well, unless she's like 7months and still hasn't done it, but that's pretty rare. She's already staring at burritos like she wants them, so I doubt it will happen.

But I guess I'm a SS since Adeline is over 4mo? We'll just wait until she's ready. She's nowhere near 40oz of formula a day. That'll be the first sign of readiness for us.

I voted for waiting until 4-6 months, but Ev stares at our food so hard that I am tempted. Maybe I should have voted SS as I let her lick on a carrot the other day!
N will be 4 months on Thursday and I am not ready yet. With DS1 we began at like 5.5 months and moved rather slowly. I am guessing we'll do the same with this LO, kinda wait until he is ready. We were not on purees too long at all with DS1 so that was good.

We've done a little rice cereal. They're FF, so honestly, I don't see a little rice cereal as any "worse" for them than formula. If anything, it will be nice to start them on purees so I don't have to feed them icky formula all the time.
ETA: our pedi specifically told us to start rice cereal a week before the 4 month appointment. Then we will move on to other single grains. And then we'll branch out from there.

C has been on cereal for several weeks now. Yesterday he had his 4 month check up and the pedi said we can start introducing solids. We put his highchair together last night.
I'm guilty. The day Evie turned 4 months, we celebrated by giving her rice cereal. LOL, she just looked at everyone with the cereal sitting in her mouth. She didn't like it too much.
Then last week I gave her sweet potatos.....she liked it after a few tries and actually leaned into the spoon for more.
No allergies yet. But, that's all I did because she's only 4 months and we have her pedi appt today and I will talk to him about solids. Most likely he will say wait another month. I can wait, but I'm guilty for getting antsy.
We started Ella on cereal the day she turned 4 months, but I haven't started Kate yet. I'm really not sure when she'll start...maybe a couple weeks? We'll do veggies at 5 months, and fruits at 6+ months (after she tries all of the veggies).
I FF, and plan on introducing veggies to her at 5 months then fruits at 6months. She's one of the younger babes on the board (just turned 3 months on the 26th). She watches us eat all the time, but doesn't show any interest in grabbing at it. I may do cereal at 4months.... Who knows. I'll just wait and see if her interest increases.
My pedi said we'll talk about starting cereal at his 4 month appointment in Sept then go from there with adding fruits and veggies. So far though, he hasn't shown any interest in our food. We put food up to his face for him to smell and he doesn't seem to be interested at all.

Well, Amelia pedi suggested introducing cereals to see if it would help with her spitting up. So, she has already been on cereal for at least a month and she is only 3 1/2 months old. She did well with rice cereal so we just moved onto oatmeal cereal a couple of days ago. I will be slowly introducng fruits and veggies after she turns 4 months, if she seems ready. As my third, I always found success by waiting until they seemed interested and going from there. This is always way before 6 months for me.

A15 January Siggy Challenge-
My plan is 6 months (EBF) but if she seems interested before then, maybe I'll give her something. Or if she's crawling by then or something.

a baby after my own heart!
I voted for S/S since our pedi hasn't mentioned it yet and I haven't really started any research on what's best in regards to solids.
Too busy researching how to get my baby to give us some freakin sleep.
