My H and I both like the nn Allie, but are having troublr finding a name we like as a full name (we dislike nns as full first names). So far we've rejected:
Allison (DH had a huge crush on an Allison in HS)
Alice (although I love the name, it was my great-grandmother's name, and from all accounts she was a huge b!tch to my mother and grandmother)
Alyssa (we like, but think it might be a bit dated/boring)
Any more suggestions?
Re: Full names for nn Allie
Alexandra
Elmarie (Bit of a stretch, but that's an Ali that I know)
I have a bunch of friends who go by Allie.
Allison, Alletta, Alexandra, and Alexa.
Alexa
Alexis
Alexandra
Alessandra
Alanna
Alayna
Alicia
'Til He returns, or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I stand.
My name is Alicia, and I go by Ali.
I love the nn Ali also. We tried putting our grandmother's middle names together to get something that would nn Ali and got
Alianna
Not sure, maybe we made that up. But it remains on our list.
I'm an Allison so I like that option!
My parents considered Alexandra or Alessandra.
I also think you could use Alexis.
All I can think of is Alana. I really like the name Alyssa from your list though!
I love Allie as a first name.
Make up a name or make Allie longer so it doesn't seem like a nickname like Alleigh
Other suggestions:
Alena
Alaina
Alanna
Alea
I downloaded an app on our ipad called ABC Baby Names that I really like. I am a teacher so I don't want any names that remind me of students. Our daughters name is made up -Rilyn.
Alexandra
Alaina
Alecia
Alexis
Alexa
Or you could just name her Allie/Aly if you like the name!
We're naming our little girl Alyssa and her nn will be Aly.
I know some people do it, but Allie as a full first name is just not to our taste.
I really love Alessandra, but DH's mom's husband's daughter's daughter (so...technically his stepsister's little girl, but he's met the stepsister twice and doesn't call/think of her as a stepsister) is Alessandra and I think it might be weird for his mom and her husband to have two granddaughters named Alessandra. But then again they don't call her Allie, so it might work.
Just watching the Olympics and there is a Russian gymnast named Aliya...pitched it to DH and he thinks he likes it, so there's another maybe.
I LOVE the name Allegra. It means "joy".
