IFV's with PCOS come in

I just started my antagonist protocol, which I have never done anything but long lupron in the past.  I have always had 75u Gonal F and my old RE always would drop it to 37.5u because he said my E2 levels were too high, he said I responded very quickly (I cannot remember the number....I think it was around 2500 at time of ER) My history involves 38-40 follies and only ever getting 4 mature eggs....frustrating!  My new RE says I was stimulated incorrectly.  So here it is....he has me on 75u of Gonal twice a day and my us/bw isn't until Friday, Aug 3.  I am freaked that my E2 level will be like 548,110,000 and I will end up in the hospital and die.  No but seriously, what happens if you E2 is too high???  Has anyone ever responded similar to me?  I guess I need to just trust him.

If you're really concerned I would ask for an u/s on Wednesday too.  Also, 2500 isn't all that high.  Mine was roughly 3500 but I've seen many higher than mine.  The risk of E2 being too high is OHSS.  I did end up with severe OHSS and in the hospital but then again I've seen ladies with higher E2 that didn't have OHSS issues.  We discussed freezing all the embryos to avoid OHSS but then my E2 stalled so we went ahead with the fresh transfer.  So, you have options to help prevent complications.

I wish you the best of luck!

After more than 2 years of fertility treatments, FET did the trick!
IVF March 2012 - BFP! - Severe OHSS = 8 days in the hospital in kidney failure
    No heartbeat at 10w6d
    FET August 27,2012 = BFP!
    It's a boy!

I did the same protocol for my ivf cycle. I forget what my E2 level was but I know when it got to a certain level I had to start garnerelix in the mornings till I triggered. I did get ohss and we did transfer 1. My body was so out of wack, I wish I didn't transfer and froze instead. 7dp5dt I got a positive and started to bleed a few hours later....,I wish I listened to my body cause it was in no way shape or form ready to sustain a pregnancy.....I did a FET and transferred the 2 blasts I had on ice and it took.....so my advice is listen to your body after the retrieval to make sure the e2 didn't cause ohss....if you don't think your body's healthy enough, freeze and moveto FET next month. Ask for extra monotoring if u want......I stimmed for 4 days before I went in for my first us and bw.,. Everything was great.....I ended up with 17 retrieved..14 fertilized...3 Made it to 5 dt...transferred 1 and this time transffered 2.... Remember it's quality, not quantity!! Good luck...

2500 is not too bad at all! Also, just because you have a high e2 doesn't mean you will get OHSS. Mine was somewhere in the high 3's or low 4's & while I had a ton of discomfort, I only developed mild OHSS. I have always had a very high AFC as well, & for my antagonist protocol, they put me on 150 iu Follistim & 75 iu Menopur.

Thanks ladies!  I think the thoughts of OHSS scares me...I'm not sure what symptoms to look for other than weight gain..which is hard to tell with all the bloat.  I am definitely into quality over quanity, but anything over 4 would excite me, just so I have snowbabies incase my Ins changes and I become oop.  I know I should be open to doing a FET later...but at this point the thought of another cycle makes me mad.  I don't know how much more I can take...I was ready to start a fight yesterday morning at my monitoring appt because someone ran in front of me to cut me.  I have been a bi@tch the last 2 1/2 years....I'm ready to be "normal" again.  Lol

OHSS scared me too. If it was moderate to severe, my RE would not have let me transfer, so I did what I could to try to prevent it. I chugged the gatorade (I was told 3 liters), lots of protein,  lots of salty stuff. I'm hoping that is what helped, but you really never know.
