Goopy eyes?

I know the best answer is to see the doctor, but I figured I'd ask here to see if anyone has had the same thing happen with their LO. My 2 1/2 year old has woke up the last week with yellow gooey/crusty eye gook in the corner of his eyes closest to his nose. There have been no signs of swelling, redness, and it doesn't seem to itch either. Wipe it away and it is gone until the next morning. Any clues?

  • you might try messaging the tear duct area a little with your finger (which is the area you're describing). There might be a little blockage.

This might make sense if it was just one eye, but it is both. At first I thought maybe pink eye, but he hasn't been around anyone with it, and there is no redness, swelling, or itching, so that is what has me stumped. Oh yeah, and he isn't down with a cold either so I have not a clue.

Does he have any seasonal allergies? They can cause eye goop as well.

  • We had green goop come out of DS eyes and it turned out to be pink eye. His eyes weren't read or anything just kept getting the green goop coming out. So we went to the doctor and they gave us an antibiotic and eye drops.

  • I have allergies, but DH doesn't so, I guess it is a possibility.
