5 lb chicken breasts (I don't usually use that much...), 2 cans pitted cherries, chili sauce to taste, 1/4 cup brown sugar
Divide everything in half and place in 2 freezer bags. Mix together and freeze. To prepare, dump 1 bag in crock pot and cook on low 8 hours or high 4 hours. Serve with rice or cous cous.
Teriyaki Chicken
large bag of baby carrots, 1 large red onion, 2 large cans pineapple (undrained), garlic to taste, 1 cup teriyaki sauce, 4 chicken breasts
Divide everything in half and place in 2 freezer bags. Mix together and freeze. To prepare, dump 1 bag in crock pot, add 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce, and cook on low 8 hours or high 4 hours. Serve with rice.
Brown meat with onion, add taco seasoning according to package directions. Divide in half and freeze. Defrost and serve as desired. (I LOVE taco meat with rice, corn, black beans, salsa and cheddar cheese served with tortilla chips or shells with lettuce and sour cream!)
So, 3 recipes, 6 meals, $44 including a bag of rice, jar of salsa and the freezer bags to store them in. I did already have the teriyaki sauce, brown sugar, chili sauce, and garlic. And all that took me just over 1 hour to prepare including a break for a diaper change and putting DD back down for her nap. It probably would have taken even less time had I been cooking the beef while I was preparing the other two but I didn't have enough clean counter space for that I'd say I do a handful of these meals every other month but now that I've seen how inexpensive it is, I'll be doing it a lot more often!
One day I have high hopes of configuring some of my other favorite crock pot recipes to fit this mold. It seriously makes dinner so much easier. Plus, for some reason, when you prep it all at once, it seems to create fewer dirty dishes and take less time. Amazing!
