**sigh** Glaucoma anyone??

or Ocular Hypertension? I am wondering what treatment/drops your child takes for this. I have done some googling and the one that is most prescribed sounds like it stings. :(

Nate had his tear duct opening surgery on Friday. Nate has the thinnest tear ducts our Ophthalmolgist has ever had to open/stretch. So I think a repeat may be in Nate's future. Also, Nate woke up from anesthesia one.pissed.off.toddler. He cried/tantrumed for about 45 minutes. Sucked.

So anywho, the report is the following: The upper left arm of the left eye's duct never connected with the main drain to the nose. So the left side will probably still tear. And.Plus.Also: Nate's ocular pressure was at 23. Normal is between 10-20 (should be about 13 for his age) Doctor also said that levels are less than normal under anesthetic, so a 23 is concerning. High ocular pressure can cause glaucoma. Ugh.

Anyone have any knowledge to throw at me? Thanks.

Re: **sigh** Glaucoma anyone??

  • I don't know anything about glaucoma. Sorry! But I did want to give you {hugs} in general and specifically about the anesthesia. DS2 had trouble about 2wk ago coming out of the anesthesia for his eye surgery (strabismus surgery). It was a very long day.

I hope someone is able to give you some information!

  • I don't know if this helps much, but my nephew gets drops for his ocular hypertension. He's two. Part of his genetic syndrome includes not having irises in his eyes, so the pressures are only one part of his eye issues -- but I do know that my SIL has mentioned that they've had very good luck with drops helping maintain healthier pressures.

I don't know what they use, unfortunately, so this is not as helpful as I wish it was!
