Very Sick! Need advice

Hello, so I have been throwing up since about ten and have had to run to the bathroom non stop for 'other' things since 8am (I'm trying to word that nicely without grossing people out!) I also have had sharp stomach pains that come every 5-10 mins and last for about 5-10 seconds.  Has anyone else expierenced this or do I have a stomach bug? Should I go to the doctor if this continues?

Re: Very Sick! Need advice

  • This was happening to me all weekend and it sucked! The "extra" bathroom runs seem to have stopped for now but I had been planning to call my dr and ask if it was still as bad today. If you're feeling nervous about it, it can't hurt to call! And let us know what they say, cause you're definitely not the only one going through this!

  • Call your obgyn if you're not retaining fluids.  You may be dehydrated.  A lot of people don't realize that troubles at the "other end" can be just as dangerous as throwing up when it comes to dehydration.

This. I would also try to drink water. It shouldn't bother your stomach and at least you are getting some fluids in.

  • I'm trying but I can't keep it down.  And these stomach pains have not gone away they are starting to worry me.  If this continues I'm going to go to the hospital tonight when my husband gets home.

  • I would call the dr.  They can let you know if it's something to worry about or give you some help (ideas or medicine) to get feeling better.

  • You should also write down everything you've eaten since Friday. You could have food poisoning. Pregnant women are more susceptible to food-borne illnesses. I could list all of the things you should be aware of (I'm a health inspector), but I don't want to annoy, or scare the ladies on here.

Feel better soon! Please update us as soon as possible!

  • I mentioned all of this because your symptoms sound exactly like a reaction to  E.coli. Please see a doctor as soon as your husband gets home. Please don't drive yourself and don't wait it out.

Ditto boysenberry.  That doesn't sound like m/s, it sounds like food poisoning.  Call your doctor.

I agree! Sounds like food poisoning.  ESP with the stomach pains. Feel better soon:(
  • My family and I had a stomach illness that sounded very similar last fall.  It was horrible, and I'm one of those people that once I start on the bathroom trips and puking I just can't stop.  I ended up in Urgent Care with IV fluids and Zofran and Benedryl.  You poor thing!

  • Thanks for the advice/ well wishes ladies! I called ask a nurse and told her my symptoms and she said it sounded like a virus my body was trying to get rid of through 'bathroom' trips. I'm feeling better now and  am able to keep things down and my stomach pains have subsided! Just waiting for the last symptom to subside now which the nurse said will probably last between 4 and 7 days ugh! No fun! But thanks again for the support!
