Just made my first call to poison control...

Just FYI, those little "keep fresh" packets of beads that come in shoeboxes and other random items are not toxic. They say "do not eat", but that's mainly so that people won't mistake them for packets of salt and because they could be a potential choking hazard. I was relieved, since DD decided to open and eat some of those while she was supposed to be taking a nap...

  • Sorry you had to call but actually really glad to hear they're not toxix.  I always assumed they were and worried everytime we got something with them in it.

  • Glad she's okay. DD scared me today too. She was chewing on a leaf while we were gardening. I told her to spit it out, but my hands were dirty so I didn't take it out of her mouth. I was carrying her back to the house when she started to choke. I dropped everything and turned her so I could hit her back like I learned at a class. By that point she started throwing up. The leaf did come out, but what a scare.

  • I got SO tired of seeing those stupid things in shoe boxes and with meds that were mailed to us... I was so afraid that one day one would slip out, I wouldn't notice and LO (the master of finding things) would eat it. So one day, I googled it to find out if they were really toxic or what. I was relieved to find out they weren't. Not that I'm just gonna start leaving them around the house or anything lol. Just good to know.

Anyway, don't feel bad. I've had to call poision control before too. Everything was always ok, but yeah... it sucks having to call. I totally know how you feel.
