Newly Pregnant & Wedding in Less than 2 Months

Hi all!

I'm looking for some advice here.  My fiance and I are scheduled to get married on September 15th (only about a month and 15 days away), and we also just learned this past Saturday that I am pregnant!  Although unexpected, we are both ELATED and so excited!!  We were planning on TTC after the wedding, but both of us were nervous about our chances (infertility runs in my family), so while the news certainly wasn't planned, we couldn't be happier :)

My question is, that before I found out I was pregnant (I'm officially 5 weeks and one day as of today), I was actually trying to lose weight and tone up.  Do you think that by the time of the wedding I will start to show?  Clearly I'm not going to try to lose weight anymore, but will running & doing mild weight lifting to stay fit & tone hurt the baby? Is there anything I can do about the bloating I am experiencing?  Also, my hormones have made me breakout like I'm a teenager again, I've read that a lot of acne treatments can actually be dangerous so do any of you ladies know of a safe, tried & true product that might work?

Congratulations to all of you other Mom's To Be & thank you in advance for your advice on how to still look my best on my wedding day!!! :)

  • Continuing to be healthy is exactly what your body and your baby need. Eat right, drink lots of water, and exercise regularly--but not a furious weight-loss level.

And you can still use salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide for your breakouts. I used both throughout my first pregnancy to my skin's benefit and I have a very happy and healthy almost one-year-old. Good luck!

  • You won't be showing like a legit baby bump, but you'll have swelling and bloating already by then (you'll be around 11-12 weeks).

  • Congrats! As far as working out, most doctors say you are fine to continue what you did before but you should check with yours to be safe. You probably will only be showing bloat. Pregnancy hormones slow down your digestive system so make sure you get a lot of fiber and try to stay away from foods with a lot of sodium. For your acne, most doctors say face washes are fine because they aren't on your skin long. It's the creams you need to worry about. You can google "homemade blackhead mask" (or whatever kind of skin problems you have) because they will likely be natural products that are much better for you.

  • Congrats!  If you've been keeping fit by running and lifting weights already, then it should be fine to continue.  I wouldn't start anything more strenuous or new that you haven't already been doing.  I did not start showing with my first until about 16 weeks and it wasn't really obvious until about 18 weeks.  I suppose every woman is different, but I would guess that you would not be showing very much by the wedding.  Although, as you seem to already know baby bloat might give you a little rounding.  Anyone got advice for bloating?  I could use it too ;-)

  • You can (and are strongly recommended to) keep on exercising, my Dr told me to go ahead and keep doing whatever I was doing before, just no scuba diving or crazy things that you could hurt yourself and baby like downhill skiing/mountain biking. My guess is that you really won't be showing by the time of your wedding, maybe a little rounding from the bloat but lots of water and fiber should help that. The main thing in keeping your skin clear is washing your face at least 2x a day, I also find that showering at night helps too even if it means I'm showering twice a day!

  • You'll be fine. It takes forever for most women to start showing with their first, and you'll only be - what - 12w along at that point? No problem at all. You'll bloat up a little, possibly, in the next few weeks, but that will subside. Just be ready to possibly need to let out the hips a tiny bit, just incase your bones start migrating a little lol

Keep the water up, calories healthy, and don't over exert. Prenatals, TUMS, non-gassy foods, LOW SUGAR if you're combating acne. Sugar is the devil. lmao

  • By 11-12 weeks, your bloat will probably be going back down, and you won't be showing yet if this is your first. Continuing the exercise you've been doing at the same level is fine, just don't up it too much. You should be good to go :-)

  • for your skin, I use LUSH products. If you do not have a store you can order their products online. They are all natural products and work amazing! I have the worst most sensitive skin in the world and my skin has been perfectly clear and my complexion is amazing since using these products. Everything is separated by skin type and what you are looking for. Good luck and congrats on your baby and wedding!

  • Hi! I'm in the same boat as you. My wedding day is actually the same day as yours except I'm thirteen weeks pregnant. We found out at nine weeks and it was definitely unexpected. I had the same concerns as you do with the wedding coming up and my body. I started seeing changes in my body a few weeks ago but now I've started to really show and I can tell because my clothes are much tighter. For me it was hard to keep with exercise routines because I had almost no energy and felt sick all the time. The doctor told me I could continue normal exercise routines and as long as I wasn't exerting myself further than I already had been that it would be okay. Good luck with everything I know it can be stressful with our wedding dates quickly approaching, and congrats!!!
  • During my first pregnancy, I was on a work trip in the Caribbean at 11 weeks where we spent a lot of the days on the beach in bikinis and none of my co-workers suspected a thing.  I had a flat stomach pre-preg and it stayed pretty flat until around 17 weeks.  It wasn't noticeable fully clothed until around 24 weeks.
