Diaper returns question

So at my shower I received a TON of diapers ranging from sizes N-3. From what I've read babies don't stay in newborn or size 1 very long. Does anyone know if stores like Walmart or Target (for my up & up brands) exchange unopened bags and boxes of diapers without receipts? I'd hate to not be able to use them.

I don't know about Target - their return policy is pretty strict.  I've gone to Kroger to exchange them without issue though.

No Kroger anywhere near me. Sad

  • Like PP said, Target doesn't have the best return policy, so maybe use those first. BRU or Walmart might be better about taking the ones they sell. DS wore size 1 for a long time though, and even newborn for a few weeks. You go through so many diapers in the beginning, that you may end up needing more than you think. Worst case, you can always pass them to another mom or donate to a shelter.

  • A friend told me as long as you have a registry at Target, they are more flexible with their return policy. If you had a registry (whether the diapers are on it or not) exchange some at Target for another size. My friend said it worked for her when she was exchanging clothes sizes. I also imagine Walmart is pretty flexible all around.

Oh - well Kroger is the parent store to Ralphs, King, City Market, Dillons, Smith's, Fry's, QFC, Bakers, Owens, Jay C, Gerbes, Pay Less & Scott's if you have any of those around you.

Not a single one of those around me! lol

  • I used to work at Target in their Guest Service. If you have a registry there, you can print it off and then have them scan the registry to do the return/exchange and not have to use your DL. Granted that was about a year and a half ago, so it could have changed since then. But they should take unopened diapers as long as they carry them.
