When I was pregnant with Ashton, DH was insisting we name him Croix. Spelled that way and everything. He had no reason for it though, so I shut it down. I have to admit, it grew on me, but I threw such a fit over it that I couldn't give in.
So yeah, I kind of like it. PLEASE don't tell my husband that.
Like Croy, right? I actually like the name, but I think that people would constantly mispronounce/misspell the name. I think that it would be better as a middle name too.

As someone whose last name ends in X and is apparently hard to pronounce/read, I wouldn't use it for a first name. Constantly spelling your name for everything isn't all that fun.
Honestly, I dig it, but I'm an off-beat kind of gal. I think of a strong, athletic type of guy when I hear it. I don't mean for that to sound creepy. I like to consider names as an adult more so than a child because they'll have it as an adult longer than they will as a child.

Tell your hubby he has great taste.
I can hear it now "Oh because one of your BUMP MOMS think it's cute, you like it" ha-ha
I actually like it, although I can definitely see the pronunciation/ spelling getting destroyed. perhaps a middle name?
This. It will be very hard for people to spell IMO. I'm not a huge fan of it but I think that's because I live in a town where we have a lot of Lacroix's.
I actually kind of like it, especially since it has a family connection. And I would have figured pronunciation of Croy as soon as I saw it. Can't vouch for the rest of the world getting it right though.
I know someone whose son is named Croy. I like the name and the family connection but do think the Croix spelling would be a little harder for some people to pronounce. I'm sure he will spend a lot of time explaining the pronunciaiton and meaning behind his name.
Re: Croix for a boy name?
OMG DO YOU KNOW MY HUSBAND?
ETA: That posted too soon.

This. While the intention is nice, there are some names better left unused (or used as a MN).
Would it be pronounced like Troy- but whith a hard C?
I always like names that come from a loved one, or have special meaning. :-)
I love it!

I think it'd be a good middle name though.

well, kind of.
I would totally know how to pronounce that name...only because I'm obsessed with lime and lemon LaCroixs.
Some people might go the alternate route and pull a complete French pronouncation...like "Quah". Silent R and X.
