I know there are a bazillion weight gain post. I just wanted to hear the experience of others who have gained A LOT of weight.
I gained 13lbs between 2-11 weeks. I thought I
didn't gain much in the past few weeks. Well surprised at my OB
appointment this week. I gained another 14 lbs between 11-17 weeks. That's a total
of 27 lbs
OB is not concerned. She said I was pretty skinny to start with (125lbs, 5'8). First
time moms often gain more weight. It will settle. Blah blah.
I expected to gain about 40 lbs. Now I don't know WHAT to expect!
Re: Who else has gained A LOT of weight!
I gained 50 with my first. Honestly, if your doc isn't worried, then I wouldn't be concerned. Many women gain more with their first. I have only gained 8 so far, and am hoping to only gain 30 total this time around.
If it makes you feel any better, you will lose 20ish lbs after giving birth (but don't check until the swelling goes down and all the fluids leave your body at about 2ish weeks PP).
I am up there too.
We attribute it to FTM and age, plus I was in so much pain (little better right now) that I couldn't do much for a while.
My Dr. would like to see me gain less than I am, but I am not in danger or anything.
Confession...I gained seventy with my first and never lost it. I def battled with some pod and think this affected my lack of loss. So far I am around ten lbs or so.
Edit: pod means post partum...autocorrect
I'm up 17lbs in week 20. Doc isn't really worried since I'm tapering off steroids for my Crohn's (IBD, stomach issues) and I ate nothing but carbs from 6-13 weeks.
I know I'll be over 40lbs. I'm a FTM and I was 10lbs over the ideal weight I should of been.
I think our bodies are more prone to packing on the pounds with first pregnancies. I gained around 50 lbs with my first, but had a very healthy pregnancy and remained active throughout. I lost it all (or at least within 5 lbs) within a year.
This time, I'm still gaining, but not as quickly (up 9 lbs at 18 weeks) and I'm not really doing much/anything differently. Hoping to stay below 35 lbs total this time around.
But as others have said - your body will do what it needs to do. Focus on being healthy and having a healthy child, and let the numbers go.
