XP: Cramps

Hi Ladies,

Okay, I know there have been lots of posts about cramps in early pregnancy, and I know how common they are. But what do yours feel like, if you don't mind my asking? Is it actual pain, or is it more like what you feel when you get your period? I am just trying to figure out if what I am experiencing might be normal/okay. Mine feel exactly like my period, and they have been coming and going since last Monday, usually worse in the afternoon. Never actually painful, but sometimes strong, if that makes any sense. I've had some light spotting also. I have a u/s on Thursday.

Anyway, what are yours like?

TIA!

Re: XP: Cramps

  • I have had the same symptoms, except no spotting. With my first daughter I did have spotting. I asked my doctor if the cramps were normal and said usually yes. But he brought me in for a progesterone (sp?) level test. Cramping seems to be normal. I get at the same time, later in the day. They do feel exactly like period cramps. Supposedly it is your uterus stretching getting ready for the baby.

    :) I hope that helps

  • I haven't had cramps this pregnancy, but last time, as my uterus grew (and even implantation pain) they felt like dull period cramps. Not stabbing, but achy and like I had to take a shiit but couldn't.

That's the best way I know how to describe them.

  • YES!!!!! My cramps are the same thing. It feels as if I am going to get my period any minute, scary:/ and I have spotting too, with last night being heavy spotting. Called my doctor, she said nothing to worry about unless there is cramping with bright RED blood and clotting. Take a deep breath! (i should listen to my own advice and take one myself) :)
  • I've had cramping too, and they feel just like my period, only not quite as bad.  I haven't had spotting, but the cramps usually happen late afternoon-evening.  It seems like I notice them most when I get home from work and sit down to watch TV or read, so I don't know if they're really not as bad the rest of the day, or if I just don't notice them because I'm busy doing other stuff?  It's not unbearable, but until I had my first ultrasound (at 11.5 weeks) this past Wednesday, it still made me a little nervous even though I know cramping is perfectly normal!
