I posted in first tri as well.
Hey Ladies!
Those of you that are at or past the 8 week mark....what was baby's heart rate at your 8 week appointment or shortly after?
Also....anyone with a tilted uterus? My dr was not able to find the baby by doing a vaginal ultrasound she actually had to do an ultrasound on top of my belly to find the baby but we couldn't really see it. I am a little nervous with my little boy my uterus turned back the normal way soon after getting pregnant this time it has stayed slightly tilted. My dr didn't say much about it though looked concerned when doing the ultrasound.
Re: Tilted Uterus
Did he do a vaginal u/s because of your tilted uterus, or is that normal practice for him? I have a retroverted uterus (my baby is often doing full on head stands on the monitor), and I've never had an internal one, always on my belly, and they've never had problems finding the baby or heartbeat. Are tilted and retroverted different things? My doc has always mentioned that mine is tilted, but I'd never heard it was retroverted until I started getting u/s, so I just assumed they were the same.
RE: heartrate, I don't remember the exact number, but I think it was around 160? My doc made sure to let me hear my own heartbeat next to the babies so I could hear how much slower mine was in comparison. I was pretty alarmed to hear how quickly it was beating, but my doc assured me that was perfectly normal.
I wouldn't stress too much if your doc was able to find the baby with a regular u/s. As long as he wasn't concerned once he found it, I'm sure all is well!
I have a tilted uterus. At my 7 week u/s, we only saw a slight flicker of the heartbeat on my belly. With the vaginal u/s, the tech was able to find the baby. I think at that appointment the heartbeat was 152. At 11 weeks the heartbeat was 172 and at 15 weeks it was back in the 150s.
The tilted uterus makes it difficult to hear the heartbeat on the doppler in the beginning. At 11 weeks, she tried and tried (even went as far to try to tilt the uterus forward) but couldn't hear the heartbeat, so I went to have an u/s. It even took my dr a bit to find the heartbeat at 15 weeks. I don't recall it causing any other issues, other than that.
I don't know what to say regarding your vaginal u/s vs. the on the belly u/s...
Heart rate was 156 at 8w.
I have a tilted ute but they found LO internally at the first u/s. It will be tilted until LO grows & helps shift it into place. I what to say by like 14w my ute was normal.
ETA: At my 12w appointment they couldn't find the HB on a doppler [I was actually only like 11w2d so it was a little early] but they did a u/s and found LO with a HB in the 170s. Tilted utes can make it more difficult to use a doppler until baby is big enough/your ute corrects itself.
my best friend has a tilted uterus. her OB told her that because she already has some back problems, that she will probably experience a bit more discomfort in her back the further along she goes in the pregnancy. but other than that, there are no other complications to expect.
as far as heartbeat, around 8 weeks my LO was around 174. I am not 22 weeks and I get ultrasounds pretty often and it seems he is at a steady 154.
Our first heart rate with DD was 160 BPM. Depending on her activity level it varied between 140-160 at all subsequent visits. She would "run" from the handheld Doppler, which made it hard on the midwives to find her until third trimester when there was less room to run.
My uterus was tilted down towards my spine & to the left. After DD it's "straight". That made my ultrasounds gymnastic events. I had to come back 3 times for a complete anatomy scan.
