1st Trimester

Flutters? Ahhh!

Today I was sitting down, and I felt this flutter in my lower stomach, right around where baby was when we had used the doppler last night. I don't know if it was just a random muscle spasm, and I almost wish that I wasn't a STM because it felt JUST LIKE first time flutters with DS, but that didn't happen until 22 weeks because of an anterior placenta. (Thankfully, I don't have that as of yet right now)

I'm sure it really was just a muscle spasm. I haven't felt it since. But damn... I miss being blissfully ignorant where I wouldn't know what the hell flutters felt like if I tried.

Re: Flutters? Ahhh!

  • I always attribute any flutter, bubble, or twitch feeling to gas or muscle spasms - especially in the first trimester.

I *just* felt the first bit of movement that I have to say "I think that was a baby" yesterday - and I'm still not entirely sure that I'm not just going nuts just for feeling it lol

The only reason I can confidently attribute the movement to one of the babies is because I felt the "roll" - any others who have had more than one child know what I'm talking about... when you feel the baby's full body turn/somersault against the wall of the uterus. I felt it four different times yesterday - three times high on one side, once low on the other side (laying down, internal feeling only - no external, of course).

I would be convinced I must be imagining things if I didn't have twins in there and hadn't already had two pregnancies giving me first hand knowledge of the feeling.

I honestly believe I've felt my LO a couple of time in the last week too.  Always happens right before I fall asleep when I'm completely relaxed.  Definitely feels like baby not gas.  I'm ok with being blissfully over hopeful.
  • I would call you a lying liar if it would make you feel better, but I'm sure you felt a baby. I also had an anterior placenta last time. I think that not having one plus already having been pg means you are feeling LO.

Oh yeah, I definitely don't think it was baby, but I'm saying that when you've had one pregnancy, for me, early movement felt like a muscle spasm sometimes. So even though I don't believe it was baby, knowing what it feels like makes me go "OH! ...Oh, probably just muscle spasm." I honestly probably felt DS move more than I actually believed that he moved but didn't believe it.

I can't wait to hear about when the babes get bigger and they're moving and kicking around! That has got to be a crazy feeling compared to a singleton pregnancy.

I'm still not convinced. I need ute goggles to verify.

16 weeks I would probably believe it. But not just a little over 12. I was only measuring about two days ahead at the 3d/4d u/s, which really is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I didn't feel my first until around 22 weeks either. Long wait.

  • I'm no longer PG (LO is 8 months) and I still get " phantom flutters" in my belly. Odds are it is muscle spasms. If you think of how little your baby is, there is no way it's movement. Sorry!
