Crazy Cramps at 7 weeks

Hello Ladies,

I'm writing this post because I am having some very intense cramping. I am only 7 weeks along, and I normally did not suffer from cramps during my period. I was wondering if this is normal? Did anyone else have cramping this early?

If it's constant I would call your OB. Have you had an appointment or ultrasound yet?

Some cramping is normal in early pregnancy, and really throughout. But, if it's very intense, I would probably get checked out.

  • I haven't had any check-ups yet. My first prenatal is August 10th. The cramps aren't constant, and this is the first day I've had them, but they've been coming and going all day.

Where are they located? If you had to rate the pain on a scale of 1-10 where would they be? How long does it last?

  • They only last a few minutes, and I would rate them a 7 or 8. It feels like they are centrally located across my lower belly.

Where in relation to your belly button? Below? Above?

Sounds like more of a GI issue. Have you pooped recently?

  • They're below my belly button. lol I last pooped around 6 hours ago.
  • I had lower belly cramping from weeks 5-7 or so.  I found that increasing my water intake really helped.  My doc said that cramping was OK as long as there's no bleeding, but you should check with your doc too.

  • Well there's no blood. Originally I thought that they may have been gas pains, but normally they pass after I go to the bathroom.
  • I have not had cramps that are a 7 or 8 but I have been having cramps the past couple of days again. I have read that it's pretty common, but if it's too bad or you bleed with it that you should call of OB. Good luck!

  • Cramping is pretty normal this early in your pregnancy. I had period-like cramps a lot, and once or twice my cramps were actually so severe that they woke me up in pain in the middle of the night, It's just your uterus growing a speedy pace. As long as there is no bleeding, fever, or dizziness associated with them, you're probably okay.
