Better than that- I felt the sperm meet the egg.

Holy crap, me too! I thought I was special.

Some people "know" but really they're just smug and fertile. I have cramping after ovulation from time to time. Unless they have a time machine or magical ute goggles that can see the sperm and egg meet, they didn't know right after they had sex.

Cramping was almost positively related to ovulation (i.e. release of the egg) or psychosomatic. There is nothing to "feel" during fertilization.

You mean to tell me there aren't any nerves that connect my eggs to my PNS?! Sad face.

  • I think it's funny when women think that they can "feel" the sperm hit the egg any more than their partner can feel the egg engulf their sperm...

Wait wait wait... Do people really say that? Like they actually mean it? Because I always say it as a joke...

I "knew" I was pregnant several times while TTC, had symptoms and all...but I wasn't.  The 2 cycles where I actually was pregnant I had no clue and waited until after my missed period to test because I was so sure AF was about to arrive.

    No.

I did have a hunch a few days before my BFP though.

  • I started having horrible cramps at 7 dpo and bloating like I'd never felt before. I didn't get my bfp until 9 dpo and honestly, I thought I was just getting AF early. Did I feel fertilization? No way. It was probably implantation cramps.

  • I didn't know either time. We weren't TTC and when symptoms came, I thought it was PMS. If there was any cramping, I would have assumed it was period cramps. The first time, implantation cramping was painful as hell. It would wake me up in the middle of the night, and I would down Pepto and Tylenol, thinking it was the worst period cramps in history. This time, I had nothing.

ETA: My mom is one of those smug fertile people that claims she "just knew." When I had said, "I'm pregnant!" I was really just mocking her to my EXH, since we had just been told about her ute goggles paired with psychic abilities that day.

Anyone who says she just "knew" after she had sex & believes she is pregnant 24 hours later is delusional. Biology just does not work that way, sorry.

Also, to answer your question: with DD I was using birth control & had no idea she was there until 12 weeks gestation.

  • Ha! No. If I hadn't seen the little creature already and peed on millions of sticks, I'd still have no clue.

  • No, I had no idea. I found out at the doctor's office while I was getting a RX for Provera. So no, someone else had to tell me I was KU.
