Eating before an induction?

I'm being induced on Monday morning at 5:30am. My doctor did not mention if it's okay to eat beforehand. I was hoping to eat breakfast, since I'm probably gonna be in for a long day. I know that once they admit me I can't eat in case I need a c-section. My doctor thinks it's unlikely that I will need one given the state of my cervix, but you never know. Anyone know the rule(s) for eating before an induction? I guess I can call the after hours line at my doctor's office and ask as well. Thanks.

I ate half a dozen eggs before my induction last time. You should eat before hand, by the time you would end up with a c/s your breakfast will be all burned up.

I ate before I was induced with my first. I am really glad I did. My son was born a little after 2 but I don't think I ate until around 5. It can be a long day. My labor was only 7 hours so I can't complain. I am getting induced on Tuesday and plan on having breakfast before heading in.

I plan on eating. And heavy too!! My induction is at 830 am and know I probably wont be eating till some time late that night.

This exactly! I ate a banana and a peanut butter sandwich before I was induced, and I was STARVING by the time DS1 was born at 6pm! It is hard to eat much that early in the morning, but you should make yourself eat something because you'll need the energy.

I had an NST the day before my induction. While I was there they told me not to eat after midnight, but then one of the nurses said I should eat something. I say if they didn't tell you otherwise, go for it. I know I was glad I did because it was a while to get started (hard contractions I mean) and my labor was over 24 hours. I will say I did get nauseous and started throwing up, but that was well into my labor (transitioning).

I'm eating before my induction at midnight Sunday night. They actually always suggest you eat right before heading in because they know they starve you once you're there. If you'd need a c-sectoin the food would be gone by then anyway. Eat away!

Ive noticed most of the evening inductions seem to start you off with Cervadil (sp?) to ripen your cervix. I was dilated to 1.5cm so they started me out with pitocin. I'm sure it varies hospital to hospital and doctor to doctor though. And in the case of Cervadil I would definitely eat.

This is what my doc told me. If I wasnt already dilated then I would have been induced with cervadil (?) at night and pitocin in the morning. Since I am dilated, I am getting pitocin in the morning.

please at before you go in,like you said once your checked in you won't get to eat anything in case of a c-section,with my DD i went in Thursday morning 8am to be induced and i didn't have her in till Friday morning at 8am and i went the whole time without anything to eat.

I was told to go in at 8pm and I can't eat after midnight. I don't know what time I will be given pitocin, but my OB said to expect to have her in the afternoon (maybe 4-ish?) if everything goes smoothly. I won't even be allowed ice chips after midnight, so I'm REALLY not looking forward to a long or complicated labor/delivery.

I got a similar answer too. I am going in on 8/8 at 6pm to get Cervadil and the doctor specifically said to eat dinner before I went in because the hospital wouldn't be feeding me for awhile.
