NBR: The laundry monster! (random vent)

It's Saturday and my kids are at their dads, DH is at work for a couple of hours... and I'm home perusing Pinterest and the Bump while watching Numbers (which I only get to watch when no one is home!)... but there is a monster lurking and making it impossible for me to relax!!! He is roughly the size of my love seat, ugly beast with socks sticking out of all ends, my favorite tank top dangling from his jaws, and my DH's work clothes resting in his belly! LOL

Sooooo how do YOU guys deal with the laundry monster? He seems to be my biggest nemesis and the one chore that looms over my head when I am trying to rest! 3 kids + me + DH = HUGE monster that never really seems to completely go away!!! I feel like my kids right now... "I don't wannaaaaa!!!! Wahhhhh"

  • I feel ya and it's only me and hubby!  I try to wash like every other day, even if I don't need to, just to stay on top of things!  Sometimes the every other day thing may seem a bit hectic, what can I say, I'm high strung...LOL!!  Good luck taming the beast!

LOL I'm with ya I just folded the 2nd load of the never ending laundry, I try to wait until weekends to wash it and i start the first loads at night and then continue throughout the day haha. Between munchkins dirty play clothes and husbands uniforms and then bouncer clothes and his regular day clothes and my clothes and dog blankets and towels it never seems to end. i dont worry about it during the week and gave myself 2 days to do it! good luck and know there is someone else in theworld doing their laundry today too =)

LOL this is me and my DH too!! He works in roofing so he changes clothes when he gets home etc!  He washes I fold... I'm just a procrastinator... and everytime I get to the bottom of the pile and get it put away he says "oh wow babe, good job, but don't worry, I have a whole pile for you downstairs...." eeeek! haha.

  • i hear you - 2 to 3 loads a day here. I get so ticked when I see stuff go thru the wash that I KNOW the kids never wore. I'm seriously cutting back on their clothes. Last year I cut way back, but it wasn't enough - I'm taking them each down to 10 outfits & 2 church outfits. That way, it won't take most of the week to get 1/2 way through the laundry baskets.

Oh my gosh me too!! I've been getting on my kids about that! If it doesn't fit or they don't like it, give it to me and I will donate it, DON'T put it in the dirty clothes hamper! I hate that DH (in his helpful intentions) just grabs the dirty clothes hampers and washes them, then I think wow... we just washed a bunch of clean clothes... but he doesn't know that!

  • It's only DH and I. I wash my cloths he washes his. Towels once a week and sheets every other week.

We keep it simple. Lol I wash laundry on either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning every week.

I got tired of doing his cloths and he never really liked someone else doing his anyway.

Yeah it is awful.  I do laundry a few times a week, but it is always multiple loads and I HATE folding it an putting it away.  I really need to go grab some right now and put it in!

  • We have 3 kids, one of whom is still using cloth diapers plus me and my hubby and a baby on the way.  I was doing insane amounts of laundry.  But since the girls are 7 and 9, I have handed their laundry duties to them.  I still have to help them start their loads, but they do the rest! It has helped a lot and building confidence in them and as a bonus....they are realizing...if it's not really dirty I'm gonna hang it back up Smile

  • If I've been slacking on the other household chores, I use the in between time to clean the bathroom, vacuum, run the load/empty the dishwasher, dust, etc.  I get the laundry done and the added bonus of getting all the other crap done, too.  Then, once the last load has been put away, I'm done for at least a few days.

If I have the night to myself, though, I actually mush my laundry time into "relaxing" time (denial is a wonderful place) and use it as a time to catch up on TV I've been wanting to watch.  I sort, put a load in, turn on what I want to watch, put the first load in the dryer, put a new load in, then just fold as I'm watching.  Maybe that'd work for you tonight?

  • HA! I was super blessed tonight! The laundry monster fighter showed up!! My MIL came by and folded all of it!!! Man am I ever lucky to have a MIL like mine!!
