I understand outdoor kitties are more at risk because they can eat mice and be in contact with the disease and such....but my kitties are indoor but I have a lanai and they hunt lizards and I find pieces of them in my home...yes gross findings. Can lizards carry toxoplasmosis?

I tried googling it but have found nothing saying No or Yes....

You may want to call the vet and ask that. Either your reg. vet or maybe an exotic vet in the area.

If you've had cats for most of your life, your risks are actually pretty low. It is caused by a parasite that you generally contract, kill off, and develop an immunity against. Some doctors will do a titer (test for immunity) if you request it - but most of them just tell you to avoid cat feces. The protazoan parasite that causes toxoplasmosis only affects warm blooded animals. Lizards shouldn't be a problem unless you have some magical warmblooded lizard who's been buddy-buddy with a bunch of felines.

Just have someone else change the cat box, wear one of those little mask/gloves when you do it, and wash your hands plenty if you are the only one who can do it. No need to stress.

If you are the only one to change it, you should be fine. Most of the cases of toxoplasmosis are caused by unwashed fruit and veggies not cats. Still, I would wear gloves and wash your hands very well. (Then again, I did that before I was pregnant. It is poop afterall).
