S/O of bedtime routines...

As I mentioned in the below bedtime routine post, we've started a bath-bottle-bed routine with our LO.  The bath usually happens somewhere between 8 and 8:30 and he's usually in bed between 9 and 9:30.  I like having the routine - his sleep has been so good since we've started - but I worry about the rigidity of it.  Like, are we able to skip a night if we're at a family function or some other event that goes late?  For those of you that have been doing this routine for a while now - do you find that you HAVE to do it in order for LO to sleep?  Should we be skipping a night and just doing lotion, PJs, and bottle instead so that we can do it on the go too?  Or am I doomed to have to be home by 8 every night?

Re: S/O of bedtime routines...

  • Every baby is different, but we do our bath time at 7 becuase when I start back to work in a few weeks, my LO will need to be up early. There have been a few times that LO starts to get fussy if we go over to far (we are also having problems taking long naps right now) so early bed right now works for us.

  • DS is 3 months and we've been doing his bedtime routine for probably 2 months or so. For the first few weeks, we did a bath every single night. Now, we only give him a bath every few nights. We follow the rest of the routine but baths are no longer a necessity in the routine.
