Shoe Suggestions

My feet are very sore each day from my shoes, I've tried wearing tennis shoes each day, flip flops with memory gel in them, regular flip flops, ballet flats.  Nothing seems to give me feet relief.  They also swell quite a bit because I work at a desk.  I try to prop them up on a box but that doesn't do much.

At this point I would pay a decent amount of money for any type of shoe that will give my fat swelling feet any comfort.

Anyone have any suggestions for me?  Thanks!

  • I'm interested in this too, since I'm not working this summer I'm usually barefoot, no problem.  But I know I will need to invest in some good shoes when I go back to teach in the fall - I'll be there a month before my due date.

  • I bought a pair of Fitflops from www.zappos.com  and I love them.  I have had heel spurs for years and the extra weight from pregnancy has not helped.  I did buy them a size bigger than I usually wear to accomodate any swelling.    Keen shoes also have good support.  And if you are not familiar with zappos they offer free shipping BOTH ways.  So if they don't fit you can ship them back for free!

  • I got some crocs ballet flats.  They are so comfortable without being the ugly traditional crocs.  Plus since they are so flexible, my feet have plenty of room to swell during the day

Seconding fitflops.  I actually have a used pair from a friend that didn't like them.  They are close to amazing.

As for work shoes...I am a huge fan of Dansko.  I have always had a standing job so these have provided me the most comfort.

I naturally have slightly wider feet so I tend to really like new balance and adidas for running/athletic shoes.

Good luck!  A good pair of shoes are hard to find.

  • I actually purchased inserts from this store: https://www.goodfeet.com/ a couple years ago.  They can go into any sneaker-type shoe, and provide so much foot/arch support.  They are a little pricey if you only need them to get through the next 2 months, but if you need something long term, they are a good option.

They also make these inserts called maintainers which are thinner and smaller, but still better than nothing.  They are used in dress shoes and I actually velcroed them to my flip-flops for the summer.

I heart my Clark's flip flops and flats. They are amazing, it's like walking on a cloud!

  • ok so they arent pretty but I LOVE my Birkenstocks!!!  I think I paid about $80 for them and they have lasted me years.   They are made of some kind of cork material and they conform to your feet after a few days of wear, so you just have to get through the first day or two and they become your fav shoes.   I now have three pairs and my mom who have foot problems have about 10 pairs in differnt styles because she wears them all year.   I havent wirn anything else my whole pregnancy.

  • I have been wearing old worn through reef flip flops and having very painful feet by the end of the day (as well as swelling). My job is to work at farmers markets, so I am walking and standing all day. I finally broke down last night and bought a pair of nike free running 2 shoes. I had the first edition and wore them until they had holes everywhere, so I know these will be comfortable too. They are so lightweight and really move and stretch with you. Very breathable too! The downfall is that they are 90 dollars at the outlet store.
