Yesterday we had our first appointment with my OB and she did an u/s. We saw baby's heartbeat and all growth looked good so far. Since I thought I was 7 weeks and the baby looked more like 6 weeks, she had me come back for another u/s today. The tech saw what looked like a second sac and said it's possible I had a vanishing twin. It was strange because I suspected that I might have twins this time since they run in DH's family. It was unusual to hear that I may have had twins, but I'm still very happy that our baby is growing and had a good, strong heartbeat.

Re: First appointment
Just a little FYI twins on your husbands side have zero effect on your chances of having twins. Of course anyone CAN have twins regardless of their family background, but chances are raised if there is a history on your side only. Twins result from a defect in your eggs that makes it split, or a defect that causes you to release more than one egg, none of that has anything to with the sperm your husband contributes
