Change in DH since ultrasound?

Man! This last ultrasound has been huge, ever since we found out it was a girl DH has done a total 180; talking to my belly, kissing it goodbye, sending me emails about our "precious little girl". He was semi-excited before but this has been a huge change!

He is even talking about nursery stuff, what the heck happened?! Anyone else notice a difference with the menfolk since finding out the sex?

Unfortunately I think mine's been a little of the opposite... We found out we were having a girl last week and he does not seem as excited now... I'm pretty sure the closest thing I got to a baby-related comment this week was "wow, you're getting huge!" Thanks DH....

  • Yes! I have been asking him to read to the baby, talk to the baby everyday and get nursery ideas from him and it was like pulling teeth!!

Once we found out we're having a girl, he comes home and asks her how her day was. We get into bed and it's "Elli's story time" lol its cute, I think he's trying to grow a daddy's girl.

  • Yes, since we found out baby is a girl, DH loves to kiss my belly, talk to her, make plans for her, etc. I love it!

  • The baby probably seems real now.  She looked like a baby on the ultrasound and has a name and seems real.  On the flip side sometimes that reality freaks them out and they don't know what to do so they revert into themselves.

This happens to me personally. It's not a reality to me until I know more about the baby. Then I get super excited. I've been going nuts since I found out it was a girl.

Yes!!!! He hasn't been the most hands on or cared much as far as I could tell, but that night we were laying in bed and he had his arm under my pillow perusual and was holding my hand them put his other hand on my tummy and was rubbing it until he fell asleep! He hasnt touched my tummy other then to poke me and tell me im getting chubby haha. Hes also been much easier to reach when working and has made a much bigger effort to be around and check if Tater or I need anything when hes on his way home.

He also suddenly became interested in doing our registry and picking out fruniture and patterns! He picked our graco pattern and sets =) I was in awe! haha this morning he asked to see the registrys.

  • I'm excited to see what happens after we find out on the 8th. He is excited and likes to touch my belly but he doesn't really talk to the baby yet. I think he feels awkward, plus the baby is really only starting to hear since I am not as far along.

This. DH said "are you sticking your belly out?" ... yes, I just love the idea of being huge... (some days I look more preggo than others, most likely due to bloating and whether I just ate)... He's getting there though... often when he's embracing me he will cup his hands around my belly or rub it. But he has a ton on his mind as far as "man duties" go... like making sure he's finding enough jobs right now to financially support the move to the new house (basically coming up with a significant deposit!) Etc. I think once we move he will allow himself to get more "baby-minded" and start planning. One thing at a time. LOL
