My cousin's wife, who is also a good friend of mine, is turning 30 next week. We usually don't give each other large gifts. For birthdays, we do something like a nice box of notecards.
When I turned 30 a few years ago, she and her husband hosted a very nice birthday party for me. He's a chef and prepared a lovely menu, they opened their home to my friends, rented tables and linens, etc. So I feel like I need to do a little something more than notecards for her big day.
A brief description - she's probably the one actual "lady" I know. Very classy (note the 'c' not a 'k'). A Kate Spade kind of girl. The perfect hostess in every situation.
So, who has some suggestions/appropriate gift ideas. I've got nothing and I'm pretty open.
Re: Gift Idea Challenge (NBR)
Maybe a nice spa gift card, or, do you know where she gets her hair done so you could get her a gc for that salon?

Oh my...that one is difficult to answer. How about a Waterford vase, tickets to the opera, champagne brunch, dinner at a 5 star restaurant? I am not trying to be a smartazz with my suggestions; I am trying to throw out some ideas. One of my friends is like that too and she is wonderful. I know my friend loves beautiful scarves, wine, awesome dishes (plates, bowls...), glasses (good quality glassware), musicals and theatre. Maybe something along those lines would work? Are there any higher end hotels not too far away that you could afford to buy her a package? For example, The Coeur d'Alene resort here in Idaho has spa or dining packages for around $300 a night. I do not know your budget so some of these things may be cost prohibitive.
Addendum: Tiffany's has some cute jewelry that isn't too expensive if you buy it in silver like this one...

Haha...I just went back to the website to browse more too! They had some nice glasses, bowls, and vases for under $100 on their "gifts" tab plus that Tiffany blue box it should come in is priceless!
She sounds very much like my friend Melissa, go on her blog, she always has great ideas... www.melissacmorris.com
Make the cartoon on the front a red head and you have my friend. She even dreams of rescuing a greyhound. So cute!

Monty is the best! He is the most well trained dog ever. She puts a plate of food in front of him and he won't touch it until she says, 'You can eat now'.
The teahouse is a really lovely idea, too. Thanks.
