Breslin Q's...

Do you view Breslin as a boy or girl name?

Anyone heard of it or have any initial reactions?

Re: Breslin Q's...

  • I have never heard this name before. I would think of it as more of a boy name.

  • I view it as the last name of child actor Abigail.  It does not seem like a first name at all to me.

My initial reaction is not good.

  • My first thought was also that is Abigail's surname. Never thought of it as a fn before. It sounds more like a boy's name to me though. It reminds me of a few babies I've heard of recently being named Kesler after the Vancouver Canuck's player, Ryan Kesler. Not sure what I think about that.

  • I don't hate it but I think you can find something better. Good luck.

    1. I would be utterly confused if it was a boy or girl. Probably boy, as the majority of surnames as first names tend to go.

    2. It honestly makes me cringe.

    3. I think it should stay the surname of Abigail Breslin and any other person who has it as a surname.

Agreed.  Naming a baby after the last name of a celebrity seems really weird to me.

Ditto, especially number one. If you have to clarify all the time what gender it's for, it tends to get confusing.

  • I agree with pp--I view it as a last name.

    Only.

  • I LOVE IT!! We actually have a yellow lab named Breslin, who is a girl. We are huge Michigan State fans (for those that don't know, MSU's basketball team plays at the Breslin Center). We are now pregnant with a girl and honestly wish we could name her Breslin! I would say most people would associate it with a male, but I think it can work either way.
  • Breslin! Our friends named their daughter Breslin after the Breslin Center at MSU where they went to college and met. It is a surname obviously, but we all think it's an adorable name. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about it! That is the only Breslin we know and have ever heard of.
  • Well, I honestly would not know boy or girl. It doesn't seem like either.

    I don't care for it.
