  I liked thirsties covers better than Bummis... the PUL seemed more flexible or something...The Bummies still worked though. No experience with GMD but I liked my Sweet Pea prefolds and this no brand https://www.caterpillarbaby.com/unbleached-indian-cotton-prefolds.html

  GMD is popular... but I needed a CDN shipper. Most people seem to recommend orange and yellow stitch for NB stage.

  I also  had bummis NB size which worked well for LO because she was tiny when she was born... they were the only ones that fit at first...bigger babies wouln't need them this small though.

  It wasn't intentional, but I had three different sizes -12 each and it worked really well.  The fit overlapped with each other and the biggest size was good for filling in the holes while waiting for my OS stash.

  The Kawaii ones look big~rated to 35 lbs... would they fit a NB?

   

   

  ETA:  I had a Kawaii cover and didn't like it very much.  I only used it once or twice.  Not as good quality as their pockets IMO

  we used thirsties duo size 1 and orange GMD prefolds for newborn stage

  I also had 2 GMD orange fitteds that DH liked in the middle of the night

  I used DSQ Chinese prefolds and Osocosy prefolds when DD was a newborn. I preferred the Osocosys. That said, I am now in love with my GMD red edge and wish I would have bought GMDs for the nb stage. I probably would have found the prefold love much sooner.
  

  As far as NB covers, I used Thirsties XS and Proraps NB. I liked both of them and would buy them again. Agree with PP that if you use Bummis covers, the Super Brites are better than their other kinds. I had one in Size S that DD fit into pretty early on, though not at day 1. It was my favorite cover once she was too big for the NB ones.
  

  I would not use the Kawaii package with a newborn. Their pocket diapers are great, though.

  We started cloth diapering when DS2 was a month old, so not quite a newborn. I have Imagine prefolds that I use with my BG Flip covers. I like the Flip covers because you can use the Flip inserts or prefolds/flats with them, and they grow with them as they are one size.

  I bought the Bummi's system barely used from somebody for $20. I really liked it. I agree that Super Brites are way better than Whisper Wraps though. We also had osocozy prefolds, size 1 thirsties duo wraps, and OS econobum covers. I actually didn't like the thirsties all that much, because they seemed kinda small over the diapers. Like, even when DD was 3-4 months old I was already having to stuff the diapers into the leg holesand down into the waistband. I really liked the econobum covers because they're nice and stretchy. Econobum prefolds are enormously too big for newborns though.

  I have 24 GMD nb prefolds and they are my favorite of all my newborn diapers.  I use a mix of thirsties duo wraps and rumparooz newborn covers.  I really like both of the covers and would recommend getting a few of each because they rumparooz get a little smaller if you need it, and the thirsties get a little bigger.  I have never had leaks with either cover.  I started with six covers and had to by a few more, just fyi.  I have nine and think it's a workable number of covers.
