Hello all!
I'm hoping to find some support here as I use the app but have some more questions for you wonderful people. I have opted to be the surrogate for a same sex couple and the doctor has recommended that we try at home artificial insemination before taking further costly steps.
The boys are my very best friends an I love an respect them very much. I am going to be the "aunt" for the baby and we are very excited and hopeful that this works. We tried back in December with no luck (though we discovered that our fault may have been that I may have not been ovulating at the time and we also mixed their sperm). So equipped with a bit more knowledge we are ready to try again!
However, I have a question that I hope doesn't come across as "foolish". They do not wish to know who the biological father is, so we have decided to alternate with the donations. Is this a viable plan? Mixing the sperm is a bad idea, correct? As the sperm will try and destroy each other? Am I right? So we have decided to alternate which of them donates every other day during my fertile window. Does that sound like a better plan?
Thank you for all your help! And I'm glad to see an LGBT parenting board on here!
Best of luck to all of those TTC!
Re: At home AI for same-sex couple
Sorry, no advice. Just whoa at the warring sperm.
I bet you're right. Human bodies and processes are SO weird! (Or amazing. One or the other.)
HA .. same reaction here... WOAH .. and i pictured them in little armor suits fighting it out ... ( INSERT MOST GRUESOME SCENE from 3000 here) hahaha

I'm no expert, but if the two different samples of sperm did compete, it would weed out a great deal of the weaker sperm and so there would be more of the stronger sperm.
Besides, I think they'd be able to tell who is the father based on when you got pregnant.
