You may remember my post quite a while back (March or April....I forget now) when DH was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Well since then he's had surgery to have his thyroid removed and received radioactive idiodine to kill any remaining cancerous tissue.
After the surgery they said the cancer was self-contained in the nodule and his bodyscan after the radioactive idodine showed him cancer-free. He'll get another body scan in a year, but it's the best news we could have gotten.
In related news DH lost 18 pounds while on the low-iodine diet he had to go out for three weeks....but gained back 8 of it within three days after he could go off of it. DH had to live at his father's house for a week following the radioactive iodine because he couldn't be around the baby which was tough, but a small price to pay in the overall scheme of things.
Anyhow - just wanted to thank you ladies for your support early on when I was trying to figure out what this meant and you connected me with other people who had it and had been treated. DH did bank his sperm just in case we have any problem conceiving next summer, but hopefully this is all behind us. Yay!

Love the dance Liz - DH will have to see that when he gets home tonight.
That is great news!! One of my teacher friends had the same cancer and did the radioactive iodine, she had to be away from her 4 kids for a week, i'm sure it was hard for YH. I hope that you have no trouble conceiving down the road! MH had cancer as well, while I was pregnant. We chose not to bank his sperm, and they got his cancer with the surgery he had, and he didn't have to do further treatment, but does have to have MRI/CT Scans every 6 months, and bloodwork every 6 months for the next 4 years.

Wow I can't imagine having gone through all that while you were pregnant. Wishing your DH good health!
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, but thank you for the support.
That is such great news I am so happy for you and your family. I can only imagine the stress that it was causing all of you, so to know that he is cancer free must be like a weight lifted off your shoulders!
