Re: FFFC

  • My parents are coming this weekend. I am excited for my Dad to be here but do not want to deal with the drama my Mom brings. She is always putting down DH's family which rightly upsets him and then I end up making her mad by telling her she can't act that way at our house. I guess this is why I'm not really sad she lives 800 miles away, but I miss my Daddy.

  • I realized today that I watch way too many reality shows on TLC.  Some of these people are utterly spoiled/ridiculous, especially on the wedding dress shows.  Yet it's what I always default to watching.  Maybe it makes me feel better that I'm not like that.  Lol

  • Another one as I try to avoid doing any actual work today....

We downsized our tv channels and I desperately miss Bravo and the Real Housewives. I am probably better off not watching, but they were entertaining. My DH is way too happy they are gone.

This is basically what I also posted on the Parenting board but here is mine:

My FFFC- I totally do not get people raving about the newborn stage.  DS is a very easy baby ( ::knocks on wood:: ) so maybe that's why but really I just have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing with him.  It's really only been in the past 2 weeks that I feel like he's actually "playing" with anything or responding to my theatrical attempts to entertain him.

Before that it was like... put DS in exersaucer... ok he's done... put him on floor... ok he's done... put him in high chair... ok he's done... is it naptime yet? No... damn.  I'm trying to enjoy every moment and not just look to the future but I'm definitely looking forward to DS being able to speak and actually interact with me more.

I hear ya! As much as I did enjoy the newborn phase b/c I'd just sit there holding her, starring at her thinking how beautiful and perfect she is (as we all do with our babies obviously ) it was very.... well onesided and I felt like, ok we did tummy time, swing, chair blablabla what else can I do. I felt so weird at times because it was all about transferring the baby from one thing to the next and always wondering what else should/can I do. Now, I get the smiles and giggles and responses. I know when she WANTS to be in her jumparoo and is happy in there, I know when she wants to just chat away and it's so much fun! So I'm also super excited when DD can walk around and talk and really interact with me.

  • I also dont do the wait 3-4 days rule as we are introducing new foods. I figure Ill just keep a watchful eye, but we arent doing anything 'hardcore' yet like eggs or nuts, so Im not too worried. I also dont keep a food journal for what we introduce when. Oh well.

My other FFFC is that I am totally a 5 second rule girl when it comes to DS's toys, etc when the fall on the floor when we are out in public. His paci is another story, but his toys...egh.

This, too! And I've actually done it with the paci too. Well I do it at home but then I forgot one time we were at a restaurant and I stuck it in her mouth ops. I was mortified at first but then I figured oh well, what can I do. Plus the toys that end up on the floor also end up in her mouth....

I am also totally grossed out by the highchairs in restaurants so I bought a shopping cart/highchair cover for DD.

  • I think my FFFC is, well, pretty much everyone else's! Way to cover it all ladies!

  • I'm one of those "mean" mommies... we DD's ears pierced this week. She didn't mind one bit and only really cried when I had to hold her arms down and stop her from squirming. She was happy and laughing right after. Shot are way more upsetting.
