sleeping??

anyone else having difficulty sleeping on their sides?? I am such a back sleeper and my doctor suggested I start always sleeping on my sides to get comfortable. but with no matter how many pillows or positions I move my legs in I am just waking up with very sore pains in my hips. Just curious if any of you are feeling that way ???

Happy friday everyone!!!!!!!

Re: sleeping??

  • Yeah I definitely feel your pain. My hips hurt when I sleep on my side. I tried the Snoogle pregnancy pillow for a while but I move so much I just got tangled up in it. I usually end up on my back with what feels like a bowling ball crushing me :(

If you find any solutions let me know!

  • I hear you I have been feeling the same way.  I am a stomach sleeper so this really has been hard.  My mom said a pillow between the legs helps.

  • yes I tried sleeping with a pillow between the legs.. not helping as much because I do move around alot! hope we all find a perfect solution for us!!!

  • I started sleeping on my side with a body pillow before pregnancy to relieve back pain. I have not tried a pregnancy pillow, but I would definitely buy some sort of body pillow. Having your leg up on the pillow relieves pressure in the lower back and hips. It's really not the same if you try to use little pillows because you can never get them right and they move around too easily.

  • I might try a memory foam topper on your bed.  I have hip pain when I am on my traditional mattress, but not when I lay with DS on his memory foam mattress.  The foam just seems to give more and make it more comfortable.

  • When I don't have to share the bed with H I'm super comfy on my side.

I can spread my legs/hips out and sleep at a diagonal.

I might end up kicking him to the couch at some point. Because when I have to share with him I wake up in pain sometimes.

  • OH! And H snores. Meaning less sleep - and more reason for him to relocate to the couch! Big Smile
  • My body pillow has helped relieve some of that pressure for me... i keep it between my legs and then put my head on the top part and it seems to stay in place while I sleep.

  • How do you prevent yourself from somehow waking up on your back? I go to bed every night on my side and for the most part, sleep all night on my side but for some reason, I wake up every morning on my back!

  • I was having pretty intense hip pain after sleeping starting at like 12-13 weeks! I started using pillows, which helped a little, but the real magic for me has been yoga.

I started pre-natal yoga at about 14 weeks, and my hip pain has gone away almost completely. I don't wake up sore at all anymore. I can't really explain why the yoga would help so much, but it's the only thing I've done differently.

*raises hand* sleeping sucks! i'm a stomach sleeper and my doctor already told me to try really hard to avoid it. And now that my bump is becoming more than a bump, I can't sleep on it anyways. Sleeping on my side just makes my back hurt in the morning. I guess I'll get used to it one day.
