Babies: 6 - 9 Months

How do you bathe your baby at this age?

First we used a plastic infant tub, then we got one of these little reclined seats which lasted until DD was sitting up which tipped the whole seat over! Since then I've been putting her right in the big tub which she loves but now she is trying to pull up to standing in there and giving me a heart attack! I just googled and got about 1,000 options for bath seats, blow up bathtubs inserts, etc. So what do you use if anything?

  • We're still in the infant tub. It's getting to be a tight fit though. I think we'll just graduate to the big tub when he no longer fits in the little one.

  • we've been using the right height summer infant tub inside of our own tub but last week I bought a blow up tub on amazon ands a little too wide for our soaker tub so that was a bust. I may try tomorrow to just use it on the floor but I dont see that being easy to fill and empty. I have thought about just putting them in our tub but its a far stretch to reach them since its a soaking jet tub and has a wide ledge around it. Im still cramming them into the infant tub but really gota change it up very soon. good luck and if you get a blow up tub be sure to measure first LOL

  • Just started using the regular tub and LO loves it! Max can crawl and stand so he is loving all the room.
  • We have a bath ring that he's been sitting in since about 4 months. He loves it and it make it easy for me to use both hands washing him, since I don't need to worry about him standing up or tipping over. I got mine for $5 at a consignment sale and it's worth every penny :-)

  • Have you tried putting a bumbo in the tub and sitting LO in it?  They are easy to dry and LO can't stand up if they are in a bumbo.  I guess this would depend if your LO is too big to be in a bumbo.

I just sit him up, I sit on the side to hold his shoulders/so he doesn't fall back and that is it. Or, I get in and bathe with him.

We don't have him soak long due to sensitive skin.

  • Usually I bring DD in the shower (tub/shower combo with detachable shower head) with me when I shower and stick her in the bumbo.  She loves it!

When she gets a BATH bath, we still use the plastic baby tub, but she won't fit in there for much longer.  Within the next few weeks, I'll probably just start bathing her in the regular tub.  Though, I might try and find something to stick to the bottom of the tub to make it less slippery.

  • She's still in the infant tub but it is getting to be a pretty tight fit lol.. I'm gonna get some anti-slip sticker things for the bottom of the regular tub and just start sitting her in there within the next couple weeks.

  • Bath??? LO hasn't had a bath since about 2-3 months of age. We are a shower with mommy household :)
  • We co-bathe - he loves to get in there and splash, and if he could he dive back and forth across the tub. So Mom gets in there with him and holds him, and Dad sits beside and does the scrubbing. :)

My daughter is such a peanut her bumbo moves all over the place even with the smallest amount of water haha. ( she thinks its funny though!)

we just use a infant bath tub. she was in the mesh holder in that.. then moved to the reclined mesh chair thing, adn now back in the tub. I wont lie though.. she gets a bath in the dining room. She gets to play then the scrub down.

  • I'm still using her First Years tub in the sink. My MIL got us a Dreambaby Bath Seat to use in the tub, but I find it kind of awkward to bathe her in, so I still prefer the tub in the sink.

  • Hey - I've heard really good things about the munchkin ducky tub.  It's a blowup tup that can go right into the big tub.

I did the cobathing thing with DS, but I just don't have time for that with DD.

For those who shower with their LOs, how do you wash them and hold their squirmy selves at the same time?

I lean over DD to wash her hair.  I could actually wash her entire body (except for her bottom) this way, but I pick her up and wash her while holding her.  To wash her front side, I cradle her with one arm and wash her with the other.  To wash the back of her body, I hold her upright facing me (like I normally carry her).
