Possible TMI *lady parts question*

**** POSSIBLY TMI ***** I don't have any lady friends to ask and my mom didn't help when I brought it up to her so hopefully other mommies and mommy to be's can help :) I don't know if I have a yeast infection or something but my lady parts are really tender and rather itchy at night (its not like inside just on the outside of my ....labia i think its called..) :( it started last night and all I don't know if I should just ride it out or call my doc... Ive never gotten meds for a yeast infection so I don't know if thats what it is or what. Any tips or suggestions? Do I need to call my doc?? The earliest I would be able to get in would be Monday or Tuesday so should I just wait it out??? Please help ladies! :( I APOLOGIZE IF ITS TMI I DON'T KNOW WHO TO TURN TO FOR HELP LIKE THIS!!!

  • I would just call the Doctor. I think those are one of the symptoms.

  • Hmm. I 've had weird itching on my hands, legs, belly, but not the outside of my labia or other areas of my Lady Parts. A yeast infection is usually the inside of the vagina, right? Call the doctor just in case!

IMO, don't worry about talking about body parts. I keep thinking about how in a few months how there is going to be a team of strangers with their arms all up in there pulling out a baby. LOL....

  • I had the exact same symptoms! I went commando at night. It comes and goes though. When I told my doctor about it, she had me swiped for infections. When all the tests came back negative for bacterial and yeast infections, she advised me to ease up on the laundry detergents. I guess I just had a reaction to my detergent. I would def consult your doc. GL

  • That can be one of the symptoms, so yes I would call your Dr. just to be safe.

  • I have not had this during my pregnancy but prepregnancy consistent itchy has generally meant some sort of infection but you didn't mention discharge which would think would be present if you are itchy on the outside. Also i would think you would have itching all the time rather than just at night if it were an infection. Definitely call your doctor. I regularly use sensitive skin feminine wipes. Maybe you can try that until you can get in to see the doctor. Maybe keeping the area extra clean will help.

  • Sounds like yeast or jock itch to me.  And yes- call the doc.  Nystasin ointment will fix that right up.

I've had a yeast infection before and one of the symptoms was crazy itching. I would maybe call your dr. because they are easier to get rid of if you catch them early. And I would maybe sleep with no panties or not very tight cotton panties. My OB told me to avoid those yoga kind of panties because they dont let your lady parts breathe. I hope what ever it is goes away.

  • I second calling your doc.  But, in the mean time, if you're miserable, I'd run to the drug store for Vagisil cream.  It's not medicated (so it won't clear anything up if it is a yeast infection), but it does relieve the itching... kind of like Benadryl cream for your lady parts.  My dr's office always suggests it if it's a day or two before I get in.

  • I have been having this too, on the outside labia and skin around that. Mine is from irritation from vaginal discharge and (now this is tmi) bladder leakage. I had a 4th degree tear with DS and have had issues with sneezing since, well now that LO is kicking my bladder ALL the time I have to wear a liner from the little dribbles that will occasionally escape. I go with very light panties at night and make sure I don't use harsh soaps down there. Of course still call your dr, but irritation could be the cause.

  • I would call the Dr just to be safe but I thought I'd tell you that I started experiencing that about 2 months ago and it just recently stopped.  i was tested for infections and everything is fine.  My midwife said it was probably the increased amount of blood down there making me itch just like my boobs and belly.
  • Thank you ladies! I called the triage dept at my OB and the nurse said because there is no discharge at all (its actually really dry in there I noticed...) its probably not a yeast infection or bacterial vaginitis ( it think thats what she said). She told me to get an OTC cream to try to releive the itching and if its not gone by Monday to call and they will get me in to see the doc. Thank you ladies now I am off to find some relief!
