    I didnt.  Not by choice, it would have felt really special, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

    It sucks, but I promise you in the grand scheme of things, it will be a distant memory.  People make too much out of baby showers anyway...I promise.Wink

    I didn't.

    I was fighting with my mom at the time and it would've made it really weird to either not invite her (explain that one to grandma) or to invite her.

    Since I didn't really need stuff, I just said no.

    We had a Meet the Baby party open house instead.

    I'm not, I just had DS 16 months ago and we are having another Boy so I don't need anything and I don't expect or really want anyone to throw me another shower.

    You don't need a shower to have a baby, its minor in the grand scheme of life and honestly, most moms to be just stress themselves out about it anyways.

    He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be.  He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.

    I am in a horrible position. My sister was going to co host and now I am not speaking to either of them. My mom lived in florida and my DH keeps telling me we dont need to have one that he will buy me anything i want. I feel really bad though. I want a shower but no one to give it to me. It seems like I might have to give this dream up.

    No shower here. I quite a distance to any family and I also work out of town, so friends are at a distance as well. I am hoping that those who are good of heart are willing to gift for the occasion, but it isn't  expected. This is my  2nd pregnancy and my daughter is now 11yrs old. So everything will have to be purchased on my own, I don't feel a loss over it though.

    I understand how you feel. I didn't have a shower when I was pregnant, mostly because I live on the other side of the world from my parents, cousins, grandmother etc. and know practically nobody here at the moment. 

    Trust me, in the grand scheme of things, it won't matter. Neither I nor my son are worse off for not having a shower! :)

    Lurking today. I didn't have a shower because my mom is superstitious and it's considered "bad luck" in Jewish culture. So when my best friend wanted to throw one, I declined.

    But you know? It didn't matter. My in-laws bought the car seat and we shelled out for the furniture and a few staples. After DD was born, we got TONS of gifts, including cash.

    If you don't have a shower, people will still buy you gifts even after the baby is born. If that's what you're worried about ...
