Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Big baby moms: how much is LO eating?

DS gets 4, 8oz. bottles and 2 meals a day and he's still been hungry at night and keeps waking up. I'm thinking that he's going through a growth spurt. He's big already (25lbs, 31") and is SO busy and active during the day. I feel like he's already getting a ton of food, and 11oz. bottles just seem like so much!

How much does your LO eat? How big and active are they? Have they been through a growth spurt lately?

  • He eats mainly fruits, veggies and some form of protein. Lunch is usually fruit and yogurt or cheese, and dinner is what I'm having, so some kind of meat and a grain and veggies.

  • Well, my daughter is itty bitty, but maybe start throwing in a breakfast? My LO nurses at wake up, then 4 oz of oatmeal, then a snack & sippy, nurse, then 5 oz of fruits at lunch, then cheese/puffs & sippy, nurse, 6 oz of veggies and protein, nurse.

  • My son was 25 pounds and 31 inches at his 8 month appointment and he's definitely had a big spurt since then.

Right now he has four 8oz bottles a day and three meals.  Lately he hasn't been finishing his bottles and he's starting to get picky at meals, so I'm thinking I might drop a bottle.  He used to eat as much as one hard boiled egg, half an avocado and half a jar of fruit puree plus cheerios and water during one meal.

  • DD was getting 3 solids meals a day by 8 mos.  i let her self feed as much as possible and let her eat until she refuses food.  She went to 3 bottles a day when I added the third solids meal and the quickly dropped down to two bottles.  My DD loves to eat solid foods and I am often amazed by how much she eats. She is long nd lean.95% for height and 25% for weight.

I agree with this.  We have been giving 3 meals (or at least offering) a day for a while now.  My son is a little guy, but lovessssss to eat.

    Our schedule is this;

Mornings: - Bottle (6-7oz) and cereal and/or fruit

Lunch - Bottle (6-7oz) and fruit/veggies or if we are out maybe grilled chicken, hamburger meat, etc.

Late Afternoon - Bottle (6-7oz) and snacks...mum mums or crackers or other easy to hold snacks

    6PM - Dinner - typically a veggie & a meat.

    7pm Bottle - 6 oz.

Same here for my DD!Big Smile

  • 7am - DS nurses when he wakes up (I would estimate ~5 oz).  He has ZERO interest in me feeding him any real food, but he will eat a handful of cheerios in his high chair while I get stuff ready for the day.

    10am - 4 oz bottle (BM)

    12pm - 4 oz yogurt

    1pm - 5 oz bottle (BM)

    4pm - 4 oz bottle (BM)

    6:30pm - ~5-6 oz vegetables/meat

7:30pm - nurse before bed (probably ~4 oz)

wakes once at night to nurse (probably ~4 oz)

So he probably eats ~26 oz of breast milk and ~10 oz. solids.  Oh, and he is about 22lb and 28in at 9 months old.

  • I'm not sure if my dd has had a growth spurt recently but she is 10months and wears 12-18 month clothes. She is VERY active crawling and cruising all day long. At her nine month appt she weighed 21lbs. This is her schedule:

730 wake up- banana and oatmeal cereal with 6oz bottle

11 lunch stage 2 gerber meal (I think they are 3oz each) and half of a gerber stage 3 fruit I try to get her to drink more formula (try 3-4oz) but she usually doesnt

    1-5 nap

5 another stage 2 meal and the other half of stage 3 fruit, 6-8 oz bottle

    7-730 bedtime

  • My LO is 10 months and still breastfed. I've been pumping for work and my milk supply has gone down tremendously. How much milk should a baby be getting at this age? I'm not sure if I should start supplementing formula. What's the best kind of formula out there?

     Thanks!

All formulas are pretty much the same. I would start with a generic.
