Switching preschools

We are pretty sure that we are changing DD's preschool for this school year.  We liked her old school, but there were other issues and the preschool lacked a lot of what we expected (we're told they did) etc.

Anyways, I'm a little nervous how the change will go for DD.  I was told to let her know that the old preschool was where she went when she was 3, and now she gets to go to this new preschool because she is 4.  But besides that, and the obvious, be positive and talk up the new school, does anyone have a similar experience or any advice?

I feel guilty about switching, but the negatives outway the positives with the old school.

    If the school will allow it maybe take her in before she actually starts so she can meet the teachers & the kids. That way you can be there while she gets acquainted & isn't dropped off to complete strangers on the first day. Maybe that will give her some confidence to deal with the transition.

    Ditto pp. We are in the same boat. My ds is changing and we went to visit the new school today. He has a uniform and we picked out his lunch box etc. to get him excited. He is usually ok with change and he did just as I expected he said the new school was "pretty cool actually" so I am not worried. Good luck with dd. I am sure that you are worrying and everything will be great.

    My DS is changing Preschools as well. He went to a private preschool for 3's program and we moved him to one that is closer to home for this fall. I did however get him into their Summer camp program with his new teacher so he has had all summer to get use to his new class room, teacher and most of his soon to be class mates. I think he will do fine now.
