Oh! Bleeding ever day is "NORMAL"???

I wonder why I even go to the Dr. I guess it's just for peace of mind. I mean really, this is my first pregnancy. I'm already paranoid as any pregnant mother. I'm already a hypochondriac. I'm having twins. I'm already obese so of course I'm scared of everything! I try to read as much as possible. I try to learn as much as I can. I'm getting use to the aches, the pains, and everything else pregnancy brings. But when I started BLEEDING last Saturday night, that scared me. Especially since I had some REAL bad pains Friday morning when I woke up and had been in pain ever since. So normally, like everything I read and learn says if you have pain, see your Dr, especially if it's accompanied by bleeding. So, Saturday night my husband and I (who were out of town) took the 40 mile trek home to get to our hospital. It didn't give me much relief but a little, just seeing our little ones, moving around and seemingly happy. The ER Dr told me to call my OB and get seen ASAP to follow up. The OB I saw didn't even  She examine me. Nothing! She told me pain and bleeding is normal. I should only be concerned if I'm soaking through several pads a DAY. This just seems crazy to me! But I can only believe the Dr's right? She ordered an ultrasound and both babies were moving (baby A more than Baby B but that's typical with them). But then I was concerned with Baby B being curled up in such a small ball. The ultrasound tech didn't seem "concerned" by this. She asked me to roll to one side to see if the baby would stretch out but no, the baby didn't. She just commented, "well, that baby is comfortable." ugh, this paranoia is awful! However... I have been told by friends/family that they have, or knew people who bled through the majority of their pregnancy too. I'm not full-out bleeding anymore but (TMI) am still having brownish discharge every day. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

  • Did they check your cervix on a transvaginal ultrasound?  I would be concerned that you are experiencing cervical changes if anything.  ((HUGS))  I would get a second opinion from a different OB.

  • I've heard that brown discharge is "normal" it is the red blood that is worrisome. Some do bleed during preg, esp with multiples. But as a FTM it is hard to not freak out at every pain and bleeding. The ER and OB are there to reassure you.

  • The ER doctor checked my cervix. The ER Dr also gave me an ultrasound (belly one), and my OB's office gave me a belly ultrasound. Every appears fine.
