Newbie here! Advice? Stories?

Hi all,

I'm a newbie here and I thought I'd say hi. I was also hoping to hear some advice and success stories from people in similar position. I'm 29 and after going through a bunch of tests have been diagnosed with PCOS with Mild Hyperprolactinaemia. I'm on 1500 mg of metformin per day and I take half a pill of Dostinex 2x per week. I'm also on day 2 of my first round of Clomid. We're trying Timed Intercourse for a round or two b/c it's covered by our insurance and IUIs aren't. So I'm hoping it works out.

I'm a little worried but not stressed too much. I'm mostly worried about my trigger injection next work.

So, yeah. That's me! Any advice would be great!

  • I know needles can be scary! I haven't tried Clomid or any other fertility injectibles yet but in 2008 I was diagnosed with MS and the treatment options were all self injectibles. I know it isn't the same but I found that if I warmed the area first and tried to relax the shots were easier to take. I usually followed up the shots with a cold glass of water. I think that was more psychological than anything but it helped me. I hope that helps. Good luck to you and your husband on ttc. Baby dust :)

  • I was nervous about injections when I first started them too, and it helped me to put an ice pack on the area first to numb it up a bit.  Honestly, it wasn't that bad- just keep your end goal in mind, and you'll find that you can handle anything.

I also like to lurk on the Pregnant After Infertility (PAIF) board for success stories- unfortunately, everyone here is still trying, so you don't see many success stories here.   Good luck!
