I work at a university advising students for two different programs and report directly to the program directors (two men who are like the Odd Couple except they hate each other). One of my coworkers knows I'm pregnant but the rest don't. The pressure to tell has been mounting. It's not uncommon for everyone to get together and has a glass of wine at the end of Friday and people often bring in delicious food (today the dean brought in some soft cheese I was dying to try but didn't). Whenever I turn down the offers for alcohol/soft cheese/whatnot, I get weird looks since I used to accept them before. Next week is my second dr appointment and I know that while one of the program directors won't care, the other gets pretty upset whenever I try to take ANY time off and he gets ESPECIALLY nosy when it's to go to a Dr appointment. Should I just cave and tell them I'm pregnant to get them off my back? I honestly didn't want to say until I was quite visibly pregnant (I have a pouch but can blame it on my weight pretty easily).
Re: Should I cave and tell?
For me telling my boss made things soo much better. My work now lets me come in later in the morning when I dont feel good, and are super great about all of the appointments. I would personally tell, rumors start fast once people get suspicous.
Thats just me anyways.
