So I posted last week about getting a referral from my PCM to see a fertility specialist out in town. He said that he would be fine with just writing a referral himself knowing our history of testing, etc. the past two years in San Diego before we came to Japan but they are making him refer me to OBGYN in the hospital to review my case first, then they can write a referral to someone out in town.
I got a call today that my referral went through and now the next step is to call the OBGYN office at the hospital so I can that appointment to get what I need in the first place, a referral to a doctor out in town. I called and they are not accepting or making appointments for women who are not pregnant. Which to me, was a slap in the face because that is the only reason I need the appointment...because I'm not pregnant yet She said that all others are given appointments on a space available basis and she will call when they have an opening but can't guarantee one. She couldn't even book me for Dec/Jan!
So my next step it actually going into the Tricare office to see if they can somehow override my referral and just let me see a specialist out in town. None of this makes sense to me...I understand pregnant women have priority but if I can't be seen by a doctor at the hospital why can't I get a referral for someone out in town that does have the time to see me. So frustrated, thanks for listening ladies!
Re: Referral run around...
If they can't see you until dec/jan then you should be able to get an override to see another ob. That's part of the tricare "access to care standards". Just call tricare, they should actually be able to fix it pretty quick
3rd cycles clomid + Ovidrel = BFN
4th cycles letrozole/Ovidrel + IUI = BFN
IVF #1 = BFP! Twins due 2/5/2014
This. I believe, if they cannot see you within 30 days, they are supposed to refer you out. It doesn't matter what it is for.
