April 2012 Moms

I think I know why the weight isn't coming off......

I have been addicted to McDonald's mocha frappes.  A sweet coffee treat that calls my name every time I drive by.  Which is often because I have to be a taxi driver to my boys.

Well I just did a little research and found out they are 550 calories or 13ww points. Yikes!  Guess that negates all of the extra calories I burn BFing.  I have been slowly putting some weight back on and I couldn't figure out why........well now I know.

They have sugar free vanilla iced coffee too.  I think it is only 2 ww points but It is not my fav.  Guess I need to make the change or find a new drink at home.  I loved having a litte pick me up to look forward to.

Does anyone else have coffee treat ideas?  I don't like straight up coffee.

  • I don't know if its a Chicagoland thing, but from 3-6pm Dunkin Donuts has iced coffee for $.99 any size.  I make sure to stop if I'm out.  I get a large french vanilla iced coffee with one cream (on the side, otherwise its impossible to know how much they put in there) and a bunch of splendia.  I haven't figured out the points, but its probably 1.

  • I never understood how someone can go to McDonalds and just buy a frappe....If I'm within 50 feet...I need fries and a bigmac/chicken sandwich/chicken nuggets....I have such a weakness for fast food! So not into sweets, but I love my Salty!

  • When Ari was diagnosed as MSPI I switched to almond milk. Even though I am no longer bfing I still drink it. They have a vanilla flavor which is 90 calories for a glass and it's so yummy! Adding a splash of that into your coffee will make it taste like a real treat!

  • Does it have to be iced?  I'm not a huge iced fan, but I love skinny mochas (not from McD's, but from a local coffee shop) and they aren't too bad in calories.

  • Just checked McD's site and a small skinny mocha w/no whip/no drizzle is 180 calories.

ETA: Small Iced Mocha made the same way is 150!

I get the small caramel mocha...it is really good! It's only 250 calories, you can get it with nonfat milk if you want too and I don't think it tastes that bad.

  • Omg! Those sweet coffee drinks will get you. I don't really enjoy coffee. The only thing I like from starbucks is an iced skinny vanilla latte, but I am a cheap ass and would rather not spend the money. I've been drinking crystal light energy in the mornings. Yes, it is full of crap, but the taste is okay and it wakes me up.

  • When I'm in the mood to watch what I eat and it is summer, I drink chai tea latte over ice.  1/2 concentrate from the store, 1/2 milk is DELICIOUS!
  • I just drink iced coffee with milk, but Starbucks make frappucino lights which are pretty delicious! I just never drink them because I am too cheap to pay $4+ for one.

I think small is like 100 calories or so depending on the flavor... not bad at all.

  • It's more expensive than McDonald's Frappe (and not as good, in my opinion) but the Starbucks Mocha Light Frapuccino (no whip) is only 3 WW points.  It's a decent sub when you can't have the real thing.

     Or use your weekly points...
