Dr. appointment...accupuncture? (preg ment)

So I had an appointment with my MW today to get a game plan for our RPL testing. We aren't doing anything extensive at this point. I was able to conceive very easily both times. Unfortunately, my body just doesn't know how to stay KU.

Overall, I feel like the appointment went well and I feel like I know what to expect in the coming months. My MW is very supportive and told me I can call her any time with concerns. However, I am skeptical about one of her recommendations. She is strongly suggesting I try accupuncture and gave me a referral to a Dr near by. I'm wondering...Do any of you have any experience with accupuncture?

We're not in a hurry right now. DH and I have decided we are TTA for a while. I am signed up to run a 10 mile race in October so we're waiting until after that.

I have been getting acupuncture for about 3 months. I haven't gotten pregnant yet, but my cycles have pretty much gotten back to normal (except for last month, when traveling threw off my O). It is very relaxing and I enjoy it, but I don't know if I would do it if my insurance didn't pay for it! I just don't know for sure that it's helping. From what I have read it's important to see a practitioner who is trained in acupuncture for fertility and who has a track record of actually helping women conceive. Did you ask your midwife why she recommends acupuncture?

I loved my acupuncturist, and truthfully she was treating me this last cycle and it was my longest pregnancy. It's so hard though because she was doing so much to keep me pregnant that I wonder if she was almost too good. Now I'm still waiting to miscarry, and there's absolutely no signs.

Acupuncture is great for women with implantation issues. It really helps make a nice, thick lining. My acupuncturist believes it helps with egg quality as well (which is my issue), but I'm not wholly convinced. We only had 2 embryos make it during this IVF, and the one I miscarried appeared to be chromosomally abnormal based on the gestational sac. I wish I had the money to go back to her again because I'm very curious if she could eventually get me pregnant.

I've never done it, but I know plenty of people who have and it was nothing but a positive experience for them. It's worth a shot IMO.

I plan to begin acupuncture again, probably after I go back to school this fall. It was fantastic in terms of energy and relaxation. My chiropractor focused on 'fertility points' during our sessions. I also received chiro services and he focused on adjusting my sacrum and L4/L5 (I'm sure about the sacrum, I *think* I'm sure about the L's) because not only were mine out of whack, but they also support blood flow to the reproductive organs.

I am a believer. I did acupuncture when pg with my son and I'm not saying acupuncture is the reason he is here, but it definitely made me feel like I was doing something pro-active. I just started going again a few weeks ago and have an appointment tonight:)

I've been doing it for a couple of months and have nothing but great things to say about it so far. It really helps to pair it with charting and can really help regulate your cycles. My OB was completely on board with me trying it before resorting to Clomid. I also have not had trouble getting KU, just staying KU.

Yes, I have been getting Acu done for over a year now. I see a lady who specializes in fertility and I really like her. It has really helped with my cycles and has helped quite a bit with my anxiety levles. I highly recommend it and would suggest seeing someone who deals specifically with fertility.

I'm so glad I saw this thread... I have had three different people recommend accupuncture to me for pregnancy. I know of two people who did it to help them conceive and then a friend of a friend who had multiple losses and did accupuncture and then had her rainbow baby. I brought it up to DH and he "doesn't believe in it" so we will not be trying it (yet). I'm also not sure if my insurance would cover it - I would think I need to have it recommended by my OB before insurance would even consider it?? If we have another loss I am going to insist on trying it though... I have heard the same thing that a PP said, that it improves the quality of your eggs.

FWIW I went with the support of my OB. My DH wasn't on board but not against it either. He basically equated it with getting a massage. I wouldn't say he's convinced it totally works yet but I think he's more open to it now. He basically said if it was good for me to try, go for it.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I'm not finding a ton online so it's nice to hear its not so far out there.

My MW talked about how it helps with getting the body's hormone levels in sync and it can help with stress and coping. I figure it doesn't hurt trying. I'm just hoping insurance will pay for it!

So sorry about your loss. It's not easy.

I did have an issue with implantation the last time. Apparently implanted low. Maybe it'll give me the boost I need.
