I know I am ahead of myself but am doing some research on baby led weaning. Any second time moms have experience? Any first timers planning on blw? I think it is a great idea and plan on doing this with my lo. At first I was going to puree my own food but after thinking about it we will introduce soft solids without puree.

Re: Does anyone plan on doing BLW?
I'm planning to! I haven't bought the book yet but that's our plan. The whole concept makes a lot of sense to me.
Look! I put the diaper on the baby!
If you guys haven't already, make sure you take an infant CPR class.
We tried it with Edie. She didn't care for it.
We did a combo. We started with homemade purees, but only did them for a couple months. He ate mostly what we ate by the time he was 8 months. Although I'm not sure I buy into the idea that BLW will automatically create a non-picky eater. DS didn't have purees for very long, but lately he is really only into PBJ, quesadillas, cheese, and grapes. It's because he's a toddler, not because he had purees. He ate a wider variety of foods when he was eating purees!
With this baby, we'll probably do fewer purees simply because I probably won't have as much motivation to make purees.
One of the things I love most about it is how much better we eat now. It also really got me focused on how much sodium we were eating, it was really bad.
Lit worked great for us. DD was 6.5 months when we started and she took to it pretty quick. They say they might not ingest a lot at first, but she really did. There was the normal gagging at the start, but it only lasted maybe a week or two before she learned how big a bite she could handle. I always suggest watching YouTube videos to see what it looks like because it can be scary for some, but their gag reflex triggers very close to the front of the mouth so they have plenty of time to spit it out. Obviously every parent should know CPR, but we never had any real choking incidents.
Overall though she's a great eater, I liked that I never had to spoon feed her, and it was so easy because I wasn't cooking stuff for her separate.
We did it with L and plan to with E as well. It was one of the best choices we made! And funnily L made it for us. We waited till about 6 months and tried purees, he hated it screamed and gagged it was awful. I read up on BLW and gave it a shot, he did amazing. He is an awesome eater. There are things he doens't like but for the most part he will try anything and does have a good palette he will eat Dim Dum, Indian, Chinese, etc not just the typical kids fare.
